Hello,
A few days ago, I was inserting images without any problem into a text in OpenOffice.
For the last three or four days, when I open my folder, some images have disappeared and I have to reinsert them by searching another folder.
For the past two days, every time I want to resize an image in my folder, an Image window opens "Macro", "Image loading interrupted", then another window opens right after: "Without a Java Runtime Environment (JRE), OpenOffice cannot perform this operation. Please install a JRE and then restart OpenOffice." I have performed these operations in vain. The problem remains.
The problem is as follows:
1) To free myself from these two windows that are blocking my work, I have to turn off and then turn on my PC. But the problem comes back as soon as I want to modify an image.
2) I can't even click on other sections (Options, Text adaptation, Hyperlink, Image, etc.) since the "Macro" section persists. I can't even click on OK, Cancel, Help, Restore.
3) I can't even close the page where the text and image are located.
Could you please provide me with the steps to free myself from these windows and continue my work?
Best regards, Françoise
Configuration: Windows / Chrome 96.0.4664.45

Thank you Yclik,
There must be, as you point out, a weight issue.
I’m inserting a lot of images into my text by resizing them.
But perhaps these reductions are not enough.
Fortunately, CCM is here... And the answers come quickly!
In the end, I should have brought this issue to your attention sooner.
I will try to follow your advice.
I will write to you about this tomorrow.
(I am exhausted from having searched in vain for solutions...)
Best regards to you and the entire CCM team.

Hello,
Which version of OpenOffice?
Windows, macOS, Linux? It's important for the second part of my message (Java)
It seems that you're confusing folder and file, which makes understanding difficult.
You copy-paste your images. The normal procedure, as yclik says, is to insert and link (Insert menu).
We're talking about macros.
If your document contains macros, then the message
Without a Java Runtime Environment (JRE), OpenOffice cannot perform this operation. Please install a JRE and then restart OpenOffice
is entirely justified.
To make the macros work, you need to install the JRE (Java Runtime Environment).
See here:
Windows: https://forum.openoffice.org/fr/forum/viewforum.php?f=39
macOS: https://forum.openoffice.org/fr/forum/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=52443
Linux: https://forum.openoffice.org/fr/forum/viewforum.php?f=41 .
If the macros were written in Basic, fine, but if they come from VBA, then they won't work.

Thank you to Yclik and Trotte-Menu...
for rushing to my aid to enlighten me.
Yesterday, after Yclik's insights, I still found the strength to reinstall OpenOffice 4 1 7 and Apache Open, which I appreciate for the work I do.
This morning, after Trotte-Menu's insights, I found the place where I can access OpenOffice and the Options.
To understand what was happening, I unchecked "Java". At one point, OpenOffice asked me if I wanted "yes" or "no" for the famous "JRE".
I clicked "yes" and I found the dialog box with the menu "Type, Options, Text Adaptation, Hyperlink, Image, Crop (which I use a lot to reduce the images I insert in my current writings), Borders, Background, Macro". It was precisely on this "Macro" that a first dialog box was blocking, triggering a second dialog box indicating that "OpenOffice needed a JRE for this operation".
Thank you to Yclik and Trotte-Menu.
Thank you also a thousand times to the team of the site "Comment ça marche?" without which I don't know how I would solve the problems that arise from time to time, here and there, throughout my wanderings on my computer.
Best wishes, Sincerely,
Françoise PETITDEMANGE
