Hello,
I'm reaching out because I've tried everything to solve this issue that is driving me crazy: I'm unable to set up a PIN as a way to unlock my session on Windows 10, then 11 (I migrated hoping the problem would be fixed with the transition).
Let me explain what happens concretely: when I go to Accounts > Sign-in options > PIN and click to set it up, a small gray window (with nothing displayed in it) opens, then closes a second later. This started after I tried to remove the previous PIN to lend the PC to a relative.
It's really frustrating because I have to enter my Microsoft password every time I unlock this PC (which happens often), and it also prevents me from setting up fingerprint unlocking.
For example, I tried the steps given on this site:
https://www.a7la-home.com/fr/fix-windows-10-pin-not-working-error/#11_لا_يمكن_إنشاء_PIN_جديد
Then this solution on another one:
On the keyboard: Key + R
Type regedit and then OK.
Expand the following tree on the left: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\PolicyManager\default\Settings\AllowSignInOptions
On the right, double-click on value, set the value to 0
Restart Windows
Or this one:
On your keyboard, press the Windows key + R
Then type regedit and OK.
From the Windows registry editor, expand on the left: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Authentication\LogonUI\NgcPin
On the right, double-click to change the value of EnablePinReset:
0: the PIN is disabled.
15 (decimal) or f15 (hex): the PIN is active.
I really want to fix this issue and hope your talents can solve it.

Hello,
I have an idea to propose to you.
You should know that on Windows 11, the PIN code is not enough to be removed; you also need to delete the password.
That's a bad stroke of genius from Microsoft with W11.
So, you need to delete the password from your Microsoft account.
After a restart, the PIN code box should appear.
And you can re-enter your Microsoft password right after.
Not easy to live with this Windows Hello!
==► Remove the PIN code and the Windows 11 password
See you!

I just realized that it does the same thing if I try to "change" in the "password" section below. Perhaps there's a problem with the Microsoft account then?
