Problem transferring photos and videos from Samsung phone to PC

Hello, until now, I connected my Samsung Galaxy Note 9 via a USB cable to my computer, and I was able to retrieve my photos, videos, and other folders. Today, I can no longer access any of my folders, including photos and videos. A message appears telling me that the folder is empty, while it is filled with photos, videos, and other folders. First of all, Windows was telling me that the device was not working and therefore did not recognize it. I used another cable, Windows detected my phone but tells me that the folder is empty while there are plenty of folders: photos, videos, documents, etc.
If anyone can help me resolve this issue, thank you in advance.

Hello
To make your Samsung content visible on your computer, you need to "unlock" your smartphone on its home screen... Otherwise, the PC is not "authorized" to see the content.

If the answer helped you: a little thank you is nice. If it's resolved: the green button at the top is better ;-)

Let him who has never opened a user manual throw the first mouse at me.

Thank you. But how do you open the smartphone to its home screen?

Thank you for your response. Until now, I have never had any difficulties copying my photos and videos to my computer. I would connect my phone with my cable and just click on the photos folder and everything would work fine. However, today it’s impossible. First, I had to test another cable because Windows did not recognize the phone with the cable I usually use. With this other cable, Windows recognizes the device but a message tells me that the folder is empty. I then used another USB port on the computer to connect the cable and there, Windows recognized the phone, detected the folders but I was unable to view the contents of the photos folder. At each location of the photos and videos, there was an empty box with the photo numbers below. I clicked to view the photo and got a message offering several applications to "open" the photo. I chose "Gallery" and was unable to open the photo. Then, at each location of the photos and videos, an image appeared representing the gallery application logo, but the photos do not open. When I right-click, I can no longer choose another application to try to open the photos. I really do not understand what is happening. The last time I connected my phone to my computer to copy photos and videos, everything went smoothly.
I don't know how I will be able to recover my photos and videos that are in the phone's memory.
Thank you for looking into my problem.
