Hello,
here is my problem: Friday morning, 9:00 AM I was working on an Excel file on my hard drive. I leave my house. I come back at 11:00 AM. I try to access my hard drive: "E:/ is not accessible, the file or directory is corrupted and unreadable." (I didn’t do anything on my computer between these two moments).
I look for a solution and find this command to run: chkdsk d: /f. It works, the hard drive name reappears in the file explorer.
I try to enter it: "access denied." I search for a solution. I find "give everyone permission in the security tab (right click/properties)."
It's good, I have access to my hard drive again.
But now, the drama: I only have access to 5 files. 3 PDFs and 2 Excels.
My hard drive shows 219 GB used out of 931 GB.
I keep looking for solutions:
1. I try "show hidden files, folders, and drives," in the view tab of the file explorer options: it doesn’t change anything.
2. I find "Recuva." I install it, run it, it takes forever, and I manage to recover some files. Problem: 90% of the files won’t open.
I feel like Recuva is recovering files that were previously deleted and not recovering the files currently present on the hard drive but invisible.
PLEASE!!!!! How can I make the content of my hard drive visible? How can I regain access to my 219 GB currently used on this hard drive that shows me only 3 PDFs and 2 Excels!!
Thank you in advance,

Thank you for the help provided.
I finally managed to recover my files. For those who encounter the problem:
1. I ran the command prompt: chkdsk e: /f /r
--> this created a found.000 folder on my hard drive. But I couldn't access it
2. then I had to give my user account permission to access the found.000 folder
--> I was able to recover "chk" subfolders that contained my folders!
