Keyboard not typing

Hello,

I'm currently experiencing a problem (and have been for a few weeks) with my HP laptop keyboard. Sometimes, when I'm typing (in Word or docs), suddenly my keyboard stops working completely. However, it sometimes still works on certain websites (for example, I managed to type on the SNCF site today, even though I couldn't type in an Internet bar or on Google docs)

Do you know what might be causing this and how to fix it? I have to restart my computer every time and I'm wasting a lot of time (especially during classes where I need to catch up afterward),

Thank you in advance for your responses,

Best regards.

Hello,

It's impossible to determine the cause of this type of malfunction remotely. If it were permanent, we might suspect a driver issue that needs to be reinstalled.

In your case, I would rather hazard the hypothesis of the keyboard ribbon cable (a ribbon made up of several electrical wires) either having a random disconnection or being cut.

To check what the issue is, you could connect a desktop keyboard.

However, to repair or replace the keyboard, the laptop needs to be disassembled, and I wouldn't recommend that, as it's quite delicate, although there are video tutorials on the internet, but it's easy to break the casing, as the assemblies and clips are fragile.

It's better to call a (trusted) repair technician, who won't return a device with other issues.

Best regards.
