Hello,W10 does not detect my Brother HL-1430 connected via USB.Where can we find the driver for HL-1430 for Windows 10?Thank youConfiguration: Windows / Firefox 90.0

Hello,

I'm here to share my solution to the problem (since I wish I had such a simple one, hoping it will help some people;))

I have this good old Brother HL-1430 printer and a computer that supports a Windows 10 64 bit operating system. For me, the message "driver unavailable" appeared when I plugged in my printer. This despite the fact that Brother on its official site (not updated, sniff) states that the built-in drivers are included in this operating system!!

Here's how I did it:

1) Download the file using the link (I promise it's not a virus):

2) Extract the downloaded document

3) Go to: >control panel
>view devices and printers
>add a printer
>the desired printer is not listed (at the bottom in blue)
>add a local or network printer with manual settings (then choose a random port, we don't care)
>provided disk
>browse to select your little previously downloaded and extracted file

4) Follow the procedure and your printer will appear in devices and printers

(I'm doing this for memory because I will have to change computers, but I hope it's clear enough and will help desperate people like I was haha :))

Yes, but there is this message at the top of the page brother
Model removed. This page is no longer updated.

When I plug in my printer, there is indeed a beep but no driver installation and no printer in the list of available devices

Does the printer work without this new driver or not? No, not recognized by W10, so no new or old driver  The printer works on another machine (running Vista)

Hello,
Try to enable the print spooler and then make the printer work to see:

Sometimes, there are files left in the print queue that are not printed, please check that too by going to: control panel, Devices/Printers click on the printer and look in: View current print jobs and if there are any, right-click on each line and click on: Cancel and then confirm, do this for each line.
Then you restart the Spooler.

Hello

I have successfully stopped and restarted the spooler, cleaned the printer queue
There are still two files .SHD and .SPL remaining in c:\windows\system32\spool\printers (the latter which is the size of the test page) that have apparently been replaced by my last attempt, can we delete them?
But nothing works
I think I’m going to give up on my old HL-1430 (about 20 years old) which is running low on toner and probably drum (good machine), and consider a multifunction printer.

No, if you go all the way with this, you'll see that Brother on your link only offers printer management tools that are useless in this case, and there's a message saying that the drivers are integrated into Windows 10 (however, after running Windows Update for a while, the model Brother HL-1430 does not show up).
In trying all the available drivers for Windows 7, 8, XP, Vista, and so on, none of them work with Windows 10 64 bits!

A solution in your case would be to create a network with printer sharing, of course, if you have several PCs. Keep one PC with Windows 7, 8, or even XP on which the printer will be installed and connect it to your Windows 10 PC, for example.

Hello  Great news I just updated to W11 and rico's trick (choosing HL2040) works! I can now peacefully empty my toner cartridge. A big thank you to rico.  Best regards
