My PC won't boot from my USB drive.

Good evening,
I have an old PC that doesn't start when a USB key or an external hard drive is plugged in.
I tried to format it with Windows 10 from a USB key; I changed the boot order for my USB but it doesn't start, it gets stuck on a black screen with the (_) blinking.
I then put in a blank USB and booted from my hard drive normally, but it still doesn't start.
However, when I remove the USB key, it starts normally????

Hello,
an old PC without UEFI then? (no mouse in the BIOS for desktop PCs, no secure boot)

did you create your Windows 10 USB key with the Media Creation Tool?
if so, it might be your boot problem with the USB key, however, it’s surprising that it doesn’t normally boot with a blank key plugged in.

you need to download the Windows 10 ISO (available via the Media Creation Tool), and using a program like Rufus, create your bootable USB in MBR/BIOS.

if it still doesn’t boot from there, try with another USB key.

Thank you for your response,
Yes, I did it with the media creation tool and I have already tried with 2 USB drives
It’s not a problem with the boot on the USB or the ISO because with blank drives it doesn’t start; as soon as I remove the USB, it starts normally even though in the BIOS the boot priority is set to the hard drive
It's a Lenovo laptop; I don't know the exact model ????

With the blank key, it may not start; it makes sense if it's trying to find the boot partition but finds nothing instead on your drives.
