USB key - renamed folders with special characters and unreadable

Hello everyone,

My USB drive has the following problems:

- it is detected correctly;
- all folders have been replaced with names consisting of special characters, showing 0 KB in size, and sometimes dated 2018, 2021, or 2099;
- obviously, I cannot open them;
- I would like to recover the files, which are mainly PDFs.
- when I go to properties, it shows that 10 GB are used out of 16 GB

I followed a troubleshooting guide:

- renamed it to G: ;
- performed the "scan and repair" method: no errors were detected;
- I am not very knowledgeable, but I ran a chkdsk which yielded nothing;
- I uninstalled the driver by clicking "uninstall hardware";
- recovery software like Recuva does not allow me to recover my files.

The drive seems to be working fine: it is detected, lights up when commands are issued, I'm having a hard time understanding.

If anyone has any idea?

Thank you very much!

Hello,
Hmm, that's not necessarily a good sign...
You can try this to attempt to recover your PDFs:

Good luck ;)
See you later!
