Hello everyone!
I need your help, my goal is to install the IBM i Access ODBC Driver. For your information, I am on a Windows 7 Pro at work and I am an admin.
I downloaded it from the IBM website (the file name is IBMiAccess_v1r1_WindowsAP_English.zip). I followed the instructions and went to the file > Image64a > setup.exe.
The installation starts, no problem, I accept everything that is asked of me and here we go, InstallShield Wizard starts for the installation, it continues to create the files and... suddenly, it deletes everything it just installed and cancels the action.
I have the following "error message":
The wizard was interrupted before the installation of IBM i Access Client Solutions - Application Module was finished.
No changes were made to the system. To complete the installation later, please restart the installation.
I have of course followed various forums in search of a solution, here are all my steps:
- Disable my antivirus (Windows Defender)
- Disconnect from the corporate network
- Use different compatibility modes
- Delete the installshield files in Prog Files > Common Files
- Ccleaner
- Safe mode (impossible due to Windows Installer)
- Diagnostic mode (activating only Windows Installer)
I have tried multiple times to install it, I also tried it on my personal PC running W10 on my wifi and I managed to install it without any problems. No difference except that I didn't need to disable my antivirus (the same one, Windows Defender), but I had a red warning message from Windows telling me it wasn't verified. However, here I don't have it, but the installation "starts" anyway.
So if you have any ideas, I'm all ears because I'm out of options...
Thank you and have a great day!

Maybe a UAC issue...? Is there a sort of rainbow shield on the program icon?
You should launch it while ensuring that it explicitly requests administrator privileges.
Sometimes, installers do not seem to ask for elevated privileges and run with normal privileges.
You should right-click on the program and select "Run as administrator" to be sure.
Best regards,
Matthias.

One solution is to reinstall Windows, but it's not necessarily the quickest option.
Especially since if the application still doesn't start, it's not very helpful for you.
You should send the EXE to a friend to see if they have the same issue (possibly on the same OS as you).
Best regards,
Shadow.

Yes, I saw this solution: Format and reinstall Windows. But it's true that I would have liked to avoid going through that step..
I found some forums dating back to 2003.. there isn't really a solution..
I tried the installation on my personal PC (W10) from the same exe file, no problem. But with another PC on the same version as mine, it's going to be complicated.. most already have the driver I want to install.
I don't like to give up, but right now I don't see an alternative, I tried another way to install the driver via command line. But now I have another problem, even though I have the corresponding IBM documentation with 2 possible solutions:
- Use the .exe file (except that it doesn't work, current problem).
- Install another multi-language package (with lots of .cab files) but I can't find the download link.. yet the documentation vaguely says where to look.
Not easy :/

Yes, I checked the documentation provided with the folder, and the module can be installed without any issue on the W7 Pro version.
