Lenovo 3000 portable XP installation issue

Hello,

I just acquired a Lenovo 3000 C laptop.

Vista is installed on it.

I want to install XP.

During the installation of XP, at the start of the installation when the CD checks the various peripherals, the PC crashes.

Blue screen error pci.Sys.

I tested the RAM with memtest, no errors.

I tried with another Windows XP Pro CD, same issue.

Thank you for your help.
Configuration: Windows Vista Firefox 2.0.0.7

    Hello again,

As for me, I found the solution: In the BIOS (press F1 when starting the PC), you need to go to the advanced menu, and set the SATA parameters to "compatibility" mode instead of AHCI.

And there you go, the installation goes smoothly! Hope I was able to help you.

Hello everyone, I have a problem: I bought a Lenovo 3000 N 200 0769-A 42 laptop, I formatted the hard drive to remove Vista, I replaced it with XP Coccinelle it works, I downloaded the drivers for XP from the Lenovo website, I installed them, but they are not recognized by XP. If anyone has a solution to my problem, please let me know. Thank you in advance, great job on this site.

Thank you very much Thugpassion, it's perfect, thanks to this manipulation, it's working great.

For those who can't find the SATA settings, you need to look at the IDE interface or HDD interface level.

      Thanks again.

      Hello,

In "Advanced", we can change "Enabled" to "Disabled", but how do we switch from "AHCI" to "Compatibility"?
In fact, changing "Enabled" to "Disabled" allows XP to install but prevents Ubuntu from booting.
      Does anyone have the solution?

      Thank you.

Hi, I also have a Lenovo 3000 N200 with this damn Vista!! I'm having problems with my Wi-Fi; I'm connected, but I have random dropouts that come back after about 5 seconds. On my other PCs, there's no problem. Do you have a solution???

    Hello,

I'm in the same situation; I'm not encountering a blue screen, but during the installation, the program tells me that there is no hard drive present.

If anyone has found a solution, I would appreciate it. Thank you in advance.

You need to go into the BIOS and set the disk to IDE; it’s currently set to SATA, that’s why.

Beware of downgrading to Windows XP. You may encounter the following issues:

    - Sound card and modem not recognized even with official drivers: To resolve the issue, you need to install the Microsoft UAA (Universal Audio Architecture) drivers beforehand.

    - After installing the Webcam driver, Windows XP will remain stuck on "logging off" if you attempt to restart or shut it down. This problem is caused by a service that is not responding and prevents the profile from being unloaded from the registry. To fix this issue, you need to obtain the Microsoft hotfix: WindowsXP-KB909667-x86-FRA.exe (see the article https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/909667).

I have downgraded several Lenovo 3000 V200, and I always encountered these problems (especially the second one which is, let's be frank, extremely annoying).

I hope I have helped you if you find yourself in the same situation, best regards.

      Hello Thugpassion,

I saw on the forum that you have good knowledge to fix a problem with a laptop and I would like to submit my BIG issue!

I want to install Windows Trust 2 (optimized Windows) on an old IBM ThinkPad 390X belonging to a friend where booting from CD doesn't work (it's too old to boot from USB either!), I can only boot from a floppy disk...
I tried the original Microsoft boot disks, but it wants to copy files from the CD that no longer exists and there's a memory allocation problem = so installation is impossible.

So, PLEEEASE here are my questions:
      * How can I create a set of compatible floppy disks to successfully install Windows Trust 2? Is it possible to create them directly from the CD?
      * How to initiate an installation of Windows Trust 2 when the CD is copied to my 2nd partition (knowing that the install file winnt.exe does not exist)?

      Thanks in advance!

      Medhi

Yes, for the message "no hard drive found", I have the solution: it's in the BIOS, set the hard drives to IDE mode, not SATA mode, disable because there are no drivers in XP.

    thank you for the info

I had been struggling for a week

my client who I sold a Lenovo 3000 N200 to
had put a BIOS password on it

actually, I managed to open the laptop and I shorted the BIOS battery for 1 minute, put it back together and eureka, there was no more password. Following the info above, I changed

    as indicated by thugpassion:

For my part, I found the solution: In the BIOS (F1 key at PC startup), you need to go to the advanced menu and set the SATA settings to "compatibility" mode instead of AHCI.

And voilà, the installation goes smoothly! Hoping to have helped you.

actually on the Lenovo in F1 advanced you need to disable AHCI to boot in SATA
don't forget to create a floppy disk for the SATA drivers to recognize the hard drive.
you will obviously need an external drive and make sure to connect it before powering on and it is automatically recognized, and insert the floppy when prompted but after starting, especially don't forget to press F6 right after booting from the XP CD, it's written at the bottom of your screen.

    and there, miracle it works!!

thank you for the info from Thugpassion who helped me to no longer have the message to install Intel matrix storage manager driver.

I was really going in circles.

    best regards

    Hello,

It's all good, the Windows XP installation works fine. I downloaded the BIOS update and then flashed the motherboard, and now it's working. However, you need to have a Windows XP SP2 CD. SP1 doesn't work.

    Good luck to everyone!!

For my part, I used the MASTER XP PRO for LENOVO 3000 V200, provided by LENOVO upon request.
This remastering kit comes on 6 CDs, which is less eco-friendly than a DVD, but at least it exists...

Thanks to this kit, you will avoid struggling for hours (or even days)... only to end up with nothing satisfactory... The updates available on the LENOVO website do not allow for a flawless remastering.

I wish good luck and patience to all those who do not have this KIT!

    Bye.

      Hello,

I saw that you posted a while ago on howcamarche.net about your Lenovo V200 laptop.
I have a Lenovo N200 and I also want to upgrade it to XP. I'm interested in your master XP pro kit, but I can't find it on the Lenovo website; do you have a specific link?
Would your kit work with the N200 as well?
      What is its price?

Thank you in advance for these valuable answers because I also don't want to spend days tinkering with my computer!

      Best regards,

      Antoine

Hello, I have a laptop purchased with Windows XP already installed since the purchase in February 2007, but I have another problem: I have difficulty connecting to the internet and MSN (both disconnect all the time). There is also a virus issue every day even though I have Avast. Also, the shortcuts are dark in color on the desktop, which seems unusual to me, just like everything else. What should I do? I've been trying to understand for 3 weeks!!! I look forward to a response, thank you please.

Good evening, I don't know your "Ladybug XP," but apparently, I think it's due to your version of XP. Get a genuine Home XP version, and you won't have any issues.

Read all the instructions noted above, and you'll have all your answers to your problem.

    Best regards.

Thank you for your help, XP Coccinelle is the last version of XP Pro before the release of Vista, I will try with XP Home Edition, I would like to know if there is a chronological order for installing Lenovo drivers. If someone has already replaced Vista with XP on a laptop like mine, I would really appreciate it if they could explain to me in detail the different steps so that I don't have to come back and ask questions that have obvious answers to those who know the answer. Thank you if someone has the time to do this, I think it would help a lot of people. I look forward to your responses, see you soon.
