Hello everyone,

I hope you are all doing well.

I would like to reach out to you because I recently received a new m.2 Crucial 500GB storage drive.

Since its installation, I am unable to restart the PC; the following message appears: “reboot and select proper boot device [...]“

Windows is installed on a Crucial 240GB SSD, and I also have a 1TB HDD.

So, I connect to the BIOS (Gigabyte) to try to set the boot priority to my SSD with Windows, but as long as the Crucial m.2 is connected, my SSD cannot be detected... however, if I disconnect it, the SSD is detected again, and the PC can restart normally.

All Windows updates and drivers are up to date.

Do you have a solution?

Thank you to everyone who takes the time to respond.

Configuration: iPhone / Safari 14.0.3

Hi,

Is your new M.2 PCIe or SATA?

Is its SSD with Windows SATA?

When you add a SATA M.2, it disables some SATA ports

(On certain motherboards)

Check the manual for more info.

You could change the other SSD (With Windows) to a different SATA port.
