Black and white Word document printing in color??

Hello,

I work as an editor and recently when I send the final Word document (the book) to the publishing director, she tells me that the book is printing in color, whereas my Word file is in black and white. What should I do to resolve this, please?

I am using Word Pro Plus 2016, thank you in advance!

Configuration: Windows / Chrome 88.0.4324.190

    Hello, make sure that the font is set to black in the file. Otherwise, the issue is with the printer.

    If you are sure that your document is in black and white and it prints in color at your colleague's, the issues encountered do not concern you; it's your publishing director who must handle the problem.

    Yes, the font is indeed in black, but the problem is that it tells me that it's only with my files that this happens! The other proofreaders wouldn't have this issue, so it must be one of my settings, right? Is there an option in Word that manages this?

      Another solution is to convert the file to PDF. When you click "Save As" in Word, choose the PDF format instead of doc and make sure the PDF is in black and white. Then give the PDF file to the director.

    Yes, I actually give him both, the Word document and the PDF, which is also in black and white, that's why I don't understand anything, it's a real headache!

      So try printing on your printer and on another printer. If it prints well in black, then explain to her that it prints well in black on all printers except hers, and that the problem is indeed with hers.

      The document you are sending, if you decide to print it at home, does it come out of the printer in black and white?

    Thank you for your suggestions. To be honest, I don't have a printer myself; I'll need to ask someone, indeed. But since she tells me that this issue only occurs with my documents, it makes me think that her printer is well-configured and that there might be something internal in Word that needs adjusting, right?

      You can possibly select black automatically when writing your letter, for example.
      But personally, I can't quite understand why a document written in black and white prints in color, unless you do it that way for it to print like that.
      In that case, it means there is some intervention on this document before it prints; it's not the will of the holy spirit intervening!!!

    Ahah yes, I agree! Moreover, she tells me that the book is coming out "in full color," I don't even get the impression that it's only about the police... it's all quite baffling...
    I will still activate this feature as you urge me to.

      You don't have a printer, but perhaps you could find one in your close circle; in that case, copy a page of your document to a USB drive and give it to the relevant person so they can print it out, you'll be definitely set...!

    I was wondering if the fact that I first edit the book in Open Office Writer (which is more fluid for using Antidote) and then copy/paste the entire text into Word once finished could have an impact?

      It's difficult for me to respond to your question, I have no knowledge of the Open program, but after all, why not in that case, but it's just a hypothesis at this stage!
