Hello,
I just resolved a problem with After Effects...only to discover another one:
After cleaning up my MacBook Pro, I was very surprised by the little amount of free space left on the disk. I rediscovered the "Storage" tab in the "Apple" menu which allowed me to identify the storage distribution and that the issue came from After Effects' cache.
Once purged ("Clean Database and Cache" in the "Media & Disk Cache" tab of the AE preferences), I recovered 150GB...
I would like to avoid making any potential misconfiguration in After Effects' preferences again. I reset the settings (shift+alt+cmd on startup) but the "Disk Cache" was still enabled. Is it enabled by default? It was set to 46GB before and after resetting the settings, I can’t remember if I entered that value myself.
In fact, I have no idea how to properly adjust this setting and whether I should enable the disk cache or not, or if I should just manually purge the AE cache regularly.
I'm also surprised that this operation, which seems crucial given the impact it can have on storage, isn’t more "automated" or highlighted. (I had to look into the hidden files in the user library to realize that the space issue on my disk was coming from a "cache" folder, and thus from AE...)
So, I think I'm not quite handling it right :-) Thank you for your advice :-)
