Good evening, I accidentally put my credit card in the washing machine on a 60-degree cycle, so I'm wondering if the card will still work? Has this happened to anyone?
Also, I made some payments during the day before the card went into the wash, so if my card no longer works and gets deactivated, will my payments be declined? Thank you.

Good evening,

For machine use, after letting it dry properly, it might be best to try making a small cash withdrawal at the ATM and see if it works. If the ATM refuses it, there's always time to contact your bank.
As for the completed payments, there are no issues; since the transactions have already been accepted, there shouldn't be any blockage.

    If the card is unreadable, the machine will eject it displaying a message on the screen.

    It's good, phew, she worked at the ATM. I hope it will be the same for paying in stores.

If your credit card or any other chip card goes through the washing machine, there is usually no problem with withdrawals; however, everything printed on the card will be erased. It is advisable to make a photocopy of the card and keep it in a safe place. The important thing is that the chip is not detached or damaged. You can always request another card from the issuing organization, explaining why.
