Unable to reset Linksys Wi-Fi access point

Hello,

I have acquired a Linksys WRT160NL Wi-Fi access point. It seems that the installed firmware is not the original one, so when I try to reset the device to its factory settings using the reset button on the back, it doesn’t work.

I cannot access the device's interface; it was used by a company that provides public Wi-Fi, so when I try to access the web interface, I am redirected to a typical public Wi-Fi login page.

Is there a way to reset the device to its factory settings with the original firmware in my case?

    Hello,

Normally, the factory reset is done using the small hole on the back... you need to insert a paperclip or a toothpick when the device is powered off... you’ll feel the switch... click... hold it down and then power it on, continue holding for 15 seconds and release, it should revert to its original configuration at the next startup..

      Hello,

I've tried hundreds of times to reset this access point using the reset button, unfortunately nothing works... Do you have a solution using software for example?

You need to hold down for more than thirty seconds...

For the computer, it's indicated in the links I've provided... The problem is certainly about managing to connect... to a web page... first, you need to know the IP...

For that, you need to connect the router via an RJ45 cable to a PC, just those two and nothing else, no network... The PC must be set to Dynamic IP...
You turn on the router... then the PC... normally, the PC connects to the router to acquire an IP...
On the PC... open a DOS window (Windows key + R) and type or copy
    ipconfig /all
it will display text on the screen... part of which is as follows

Ethernet Adapter Local Area Connection :

    DNS Suffix for Connection. . . :
    Description. . . . . . . . . . . . . . : Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller
    Physical Address . . . . . . . . . . . : 30-85-A9-FO-GO-HO
    DHCP Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . . . . : No
    Autoconfiguration Enabled. . . : Yes
    Link-local IPv6 Address. . . . .: :6500%10(preferred
    )
    IPv4 Address. . . . . . . . . . . . . .: 192.168.1.10(preferred)
    Subnet Mask. . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
    Default Gateway. . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.1----<<<<====Look here it's the address of the router
    IAID DHCPv6 . . . . . . . . . . . : 123460879

Your address is probably different... make a note of it and now open your internet browser (Chrome.. Firefox.. Internet Explorer) and type that address (yours) in the browser's URL... It should connect to the homepage of the infamous router...

And you'll have access to various menus ...

So, are you getting there? What’s it saying?

      Hello,

No, unfortunately I can't access it, even when I find the router's address, I'm constantly redirected to the public Wifi login page instead. The router was managed by Noodo Wifi, and despite my requests, they won't tell me how I could reset this access point.

I want to clarify that this is indeed a wifi access point and not a router: without a router, there is no IP address assigned to the device.

I read online that the easiest solution might be to install OpenWRT on my access point, but even following the rather vague instructions, I can't manage it; I have to say that even though I have some knowledge, it's not easy to follow, and I can't find any tutorials in French. The little I find is when you have access to the web interface of the device, which is not my case. :(

Edit: Oops, my mistake: the device behaves like an access point but it seems that it was originally a router. Strangely, if it is not connected to a router, I can't access it. I don't know what system was installed on it, but it’s strange...

Edit 2: I tried your approach, the default gateway address is 172.16.1.1; when I try to access it from Chroe, it tells me that the device does not allow the connection. If I try to access any different site, I get a Noodo error message indicating that I need to contact their services...

Interesting...! They may have installed special software, just for them in there... their solutions are for hotels and campsites, etc...

Here is the hard reset method:
Locate the reset button on the right side of the product label (on the bottom of the router). Press and hold the reset button for approximately 5 seconds, unplug and replug the router.

So here is a method that's a bit different from mine... unplugging means removing the wall plug.

After that, the "username" is empty and the password is admin and the IP is 192.168.1.1
