error 5941 Solved

Question

Hello,
Since this morning, when I open a Word file, a message appears saying "execution error 5941 the requested member of the collection does not exist."
I can close and work on my document, but I can't get rid of this error message. It also happens when I open a blank document.
What I find on the forum does not correspond to my use (simple text file, without macros). Thank you for your help.

So it comes from the TemplateCartable add-in. I had indeed seen it in your first screenshot.

I suppose that if you go back to the macros and try to open TemplateCartable, you'll be asked for a password.

In any case, go to the Word Startup here (close Word first):
C:\Users\your username\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Word\STARTUP\

You should find the file TemplateCartable.dotm in this folder. Don't delete it but move it out of this folder.
Restart Word.

It's still a macro error.
Your document may not contain any, but check in your template, especially in normal.dotm.

Hello,

The mystery deepens!!
You will try to get rid of the normal.dotm (in quotes...) so that Word creates a new one.

So, you close Word, rename your normal.dotm (to anormal.dotm for example, or something else).
You restart Word, and a brand new Normal.dotm is created. Do you still have the problem?

If so, you need to look at the add-ins:
File tab, Options, Add-ins
At the bottom of the Manage list, choose Word Add-ins, then click on Go
Do you see any files in the Global templates and add-ins list?
If so, disable everything and retest

If the problem is that you have an add-in that was causing trouble. The question remains what this add-in is and whether it is useful to you.

Hello,
I renamed the normal.dotm, but nothing has changed.

I have an add-in, but when I disable it, it gets rechecked automatically when I open it again and the "delete" box is grayed out...

Ouff !!!

I don't know what this file is, you must have downloaded it and installed it via an automatic installation file.

It's a Word template with macros, that's for sure... Given the name, are you a teacher or in education?

In any case, this template is causing a problem and you don't know what it is... So, apart from throwing it away, I don't really see what else to do with it... unless the macros are not protected, in which case we could fix it, but I doubt it.

Yes, I am a teacher...
And I really have no idea where this file came from, I must have downloaded it one day... When I look at the properties, it says March 17... there's no point in trying to fix it, I don't think I'll need it, so I'm going to delete it.

Indeed, the problem is resolved.

From what I understand, the file TemplateCartable.dotm corresponds to the Word ribbon that we download from the fantastic backpack!
