Hello everyone,
This morning I've been having a very annoying problem: some applications won't launch anymore, and I get the following error message: " Windows cannot find '...exe'. Please check that you have entered the correct name, and then try again. "
I checked the path and it's correct; in fact, even launching from its location in the file explorer gives me the same error.
I noticed that renaming the .exe file makes it work again, which proves that it has something to do with the name, but I don't know enough about computers to know where to look in the advanced Windows settings.

This is quite a problem because in my case I want to play a game (Apex) that uses another application at launch (Easy Anti-cheat). If I rename the Apex executable, the anti-cheat doesn't recognize the correct name and refuses to launch the game, so in the end the "name workaround" isn't really viable.
I did some research online before posting, and here's what I've tried without success:
- Updating Windows
- Scanning with Avast and Malwarebyte to check for viruses (nothing detected in the end)
- Using dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth with the command prompt (nothing detected/fixed)
- Using sfc /scannow with the command prompt (nothing detected/fixed)
- Reinstalling the application
So, I hope you have an idea about the origin of the problem! Thanks in advance :)

I found a solution on the Microsoft forum, I'm posting it here:
SOLUTION:
1. Press Windows+R
2. Type "regedit"
3. Look for Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows T\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Option
4. Delete the folders of the applications "that are not working" (right-click, then "delete")
-> You can save the folders before deleting them by clicking on export as a precaution.
Thanks anyway for your help Reenardrougeetnoir :)
