    Hello,

It's strange that it's not working!
You press alt and hold it down
then you press Shift and hold it down
then when you finally press / (with all 3 keys pressed down), what character shows up?
Meanwhile, here are some you can copy/paste:

Hello, thank you for your help. When I do what you say, it displays either the slash or the colons. Thank you for the 3 backslashes.

      Hello,

You should have specified from which Mac and which OS this maneuver is impossible, that would help us a bit and allow us to find the cause.

Another possibility, from the Apple menu/System Preferences/Keyboard, you check the boxes:

You will have the symbol in your menu bar, open it and launch "Show Keyboard Viewer"

You choose "punctuation" and you will have all the options but this is with a French azerty keyboard and it may be different depending on the font:

I conclude that your Alt key is not working...
Do you have a MacBook with a butterfly keyboard (model shipped with the MacBook from 2017-2019), a keyboard known for having key jamming issues?
