Hello everyone,

I have a laptop running Windows 10 that is really very slow. I've done almost everything I've found on the internet but nothing works... I uninstalled Chrome for Mozilla thinking that was the cause, but I don’t know much about it. The processor spikes to 99% especially when I open the internet browser.

Thank you in advance for your time and help.

Configuration: Windows / Firefox 72.0

    Hi,

    Follow this procedure.

    1)
Install "Real Temp" or "Coretemp" to monitor the temperature of your computer.
See how high the temperature of the computer gets during use. It should not exceed 60 degrees Celsius. If possible, attach a screenshot of the software to the message.

    2) Check in the task manager if a particular process is monopolizing the CPU.

    3)
To check your computer for potential infections and get a general status of the system:

Follow the FRST tutorial by clicking on this blue link. ( take the time to read carefully - everything is well explained there ).

Download and run the FRST scan,
Wait for the scan to finish, a message will indicate that the analysis is complete.

Three FRST reports will be generated:
    • FRST.txt
    • Shortcut.
    • Additional.txt

Send these 3 reports to the site https://pjjoint.malekal.com/ and in return give the 3 pjjoint links leading to the reports here in a new response so that we can review them.

(The blue links lead to step-by-step explanatory tutorials, click on them for more precise instructions to follow).

Have you checked the task manager?
In any case, you already have a cooling problem.

Here is the correction to be made with FRST. You can refer to this explanatory note with screenshots.
Restart FRST and then on your keyboard press CTRL + Y.
The notepad will open, copy/paste this.

    Start:
    CloseProcesses:
    CreateRestorePoint:

    RemoveProxy:
    Hosts:
    Reboot:
    End:

Save the content via the file menu and then save.

Close the notepad, return to FRST, and click on the "Fix" button
A reboot may be necessary and automatic.
A text file will appear, copy/paste the content here in a new message.

    Restart the computer.

    2)

Clean the inside of the PC to remove dust.
See: Clean your PC to speed it up.

Yes, the processor was running between 65 and 80% due to the internet browser and the VPN.

I just performed the FRST correction, the processor now runs between 8 and 54% during normal use, which is much better. But when I launch a video, the processor goes up to between 80 and 99%, which prevents playback.

I just need to do a good dust cleaning to see if everything improves a bit.

Thank you very much for your advice!!

Well, the PC isn't super powerful.
So if you launch an HD video, it might lag.

Now, as I told you, you need to check the temperature.
It shouldn't go beyond 65 degrees.
So, have you cleaned the fans well?
      What's the temperature at?

So I have cleaned the fan well and changed the thermal paste; now the CPU does not exceed 62 degrees. The PC no longer heats up and stays very quiet even after several hours of being on.

So a decrease in CPU usage and a bit faster?
