Hello,

I have an Alcatel Os6350-p24 switch and I can't gain access to it.

Cisco cables don't work with it, so I bought an RJ45-DB9 adapter and a TRENDnet TU-S9 cable because apparently that's how one can access Alcatel switches, but I still can’t connect.

I am using the recommended settings in Putty as per their documentation.

Can someone who is knowledgeable about Alcatel switches provide me with a tip to help me connect?

I would also like to try with the web interface, but I can’t find any information on the default IP address for these switches.

Thank you,

    Hello,
the first thing is the cable.
You need to find the schematic for the console cable to RJ45, because at this point anything is possible.
In parallel, you can test putty and your serial/USB emulator on other machines, a Cisco for example. Once you have some certainty regarding the software + serial adapter, you can focus on the console cable.
Initially, it is urgent to separate the two parts.
As for the switch itself, I have no experience.

    Hello,

Responses much later but since I'm passing by, I'll take the opportunity to close this request.

The setup on the Switch was done using a proprietary Alcatel DB9 – RJ45 adapter (which should have been provided with the Switch but I didn't have it at the time) as well as a TRENDnet TU-S9 cable that converts DB9 to USB.

So we connect the TRENDnet TU-S9 via USB to the PC, the Alcatel adapter to the DB9 part of the TRENDnet, and a regular RJ45 cable from the Alcatel adapter to the console port of the Switch.
