Hello,
Marantz radio users have surely noticed, internet radio has become paid, on the hi-fi system (me: MARANTZ M-CR603), it is no longer possible to listen to internet radio...
On the hi-fi system's screen, it says to go to radiomarantz.com for more information, this site redirects us to the vTuner site which explains that this service has become paid and that from now on, we will have to pay 3 dollars per year to access the service.
My question is the following, IS THERE A FREE ALTERNATIVE TO VTUNER THAT WOULD WORK ON MY MARANTZ HI-FI SYSTEM???
Hoping for a reply,
Thank you,
Thomas

Yes, of course, I do the same with my laptop, which I connect to Vtuner that remains free (whereas with a Marantz device you have to pay $3 for full access, ....????) which obviously allows you to listen to any radio station for free by sending it via Bluetooth to the Marantz. Nevertheless, Marantz remains in illegality on one hand by continuing to sell devices that do not comply with the technical specification that promises free listening to thousands of radio stations, and on the other hand by resorting to planned obsolescence that makes it impossible to listen to free internet radios by making this feature paid, which would force users to turn to another brand to get a device that offers this same function for free. On my side, I am preparing a file that I will send to 60 million consumers to explain the facts and ask for their help in forcing Marantz to return to legality. I’m fed up with being held hostage by crooks...

Hello, I have a Marantz NR1506 at home that has gone mute.
If vTuner wants to charge for its services for Marantz customers, Marantz must give us the option to choose another free platform and provide an update to fulfill its commitments.
If there is a petition or collective action, I stand in solidarity. -
-
I also own a MCR611 from MARANTZ, and I find the brand's attitude towards its customers deplorable.
We absolutely must react; if we chose a product that met our expectations without any restrictions on the use of certain services, it is completely unacceptable for a service to become paid.
MARANTZ must absolutely respond to our request, which is entirely justified. -

Hello,
I suggest creating a Facebook page denouncing this hostage-taking and spreading it widely.
They're going to love this publicity.
If we have at least twenty people on board, I will create it and send you the link in this thread.
Thank you for your responses :-)-

Hello
I own a Marantz NR1606 and I'm experiencing the same issue. I am a HiFi technician and I have several clients who are in the same situation as us. I contacted Denon/Marantz today, but there is no solution for the "old models" like ours; no updates are in sight, but they assured me they are working on it. The problem is not related to the Denon/Marantz brands as I have read, but to vTuner. All brands using vTuner for internet radios are being held hostage like us. I will be sure to keep you updated on the progress of any updates, if there is one someday!!!!!!!!!!-
What bothers me is that Denon Marantz devices have been released with TuneIn for a year, but they seem to be thinking about a possible update for their other devices.
On my side, I will open a PayPal dispute with Vtuner, which no longer responds to my messages.
Apparently, Mr. Michael N Bolton is a bit alone in managing his dollars. -
Thank you for this information, Mr. Bolton also no longer responds to my emails, the customer service and the sales department of Marantz are completely unresponsive, the first is absent and the second is silent. As I just wrote, I am preparing a file that I will send to 60 million consumers to explain the situation and ask for their help in getting Marantz to take action.
- Thank you, yellow dog. I am more furious with the scammers at vtuner than with Marantz. That said, Marantz should respond and offer a firmware update using either a free database or a database updated by a consortium of manufacturers (it's fairly trivial to implement). I have contacted Marantz's customer service. The brand is acting illegally as it is simply a case of false advertising and deception. Yamaha solved the issue by offering another indexing and station search service; however, Yamaha only updated the firmwares on the most recent models. I did not buy my MCR 510 solely for internet radio, but it was one of the purchase criteria. So if I can help you, let me know how; I can also contact a consumer association. Moreover, I have signed the petition.

-
Me too, owner of the 611 model. I just set up an alert on the UFC QUECHOISIR website because this is completely illegal from the standpoint of the consumer code. Never again MARANTZ and I will try to get a refund from the seller SON-VIDEO. Grrrrr.

Hello
I also just discovered this gift. I find Marantz's attitude really questionable. I bought this M-CR611 amplifier with access to internet radios. But being tied to a company like VTUNER that charges fees is not acceptable. Today it's $3 and tomorrow???
I am interested in knowing how it is possible to change this situation.
Best regards -

As a user of a MARANTZ MCR510, I am encountering the same problem. The response from 01/21/2020 on the official MARANTZ website is as follows:
https://marantz-fr.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/7100/kw/vtuner/session/L3RpbWUvMTU3OTg1MjA3NC9zaWQvZlVlY3hiTUl4ZzNjeE8xdXZJdXFxTHJtRkN3RUx4dUlCcWNzczBBWl9DOERKZE1XJTdFbGVCdnhWX280WXIyNW5WWDJSQXREclkzWXF5d0ZzN3JyTDlsbkdhY01YRVlLd0k5RzRJN0tKd1dpYnhLb3N6eTI4UkxoSXclMjElMjE%3D
Basically, figure it out yourself... rather light, don't you think? -
Hello, I'm FURAX about this hostage situation by Marantz+Vtuner, especially since I've tested it on YAMAHA, and it's crap.
Some Yamaha terminals recommended an "update to AIRABLE," but without breaking a sweat: you had to do it yourself.
I think I'm going to contact the DGCCRF, which is ready to take collective action with a media frenzy and all the fuss? (that's all that will work now....)-
-
ET: I just found this: are there any tech whizzes who can help?
"Vtuner is no longer supported by many audio receivers such as Yamaha, Marantz, etc....
I’m looking to emulate vtuner like in the example below.
Is anyone able to get this script working and, more importantly, explain to me how to do it concretely?

Good evening Michel Batal,
It's a very good idea to have alerted UFC QUE CHOISIR, if you don't mind, you could keep us updated on the events.-

Message posted this evening on Marantz customer support:
Good evening,
Why can no longer receive internet radio with an M-CR 610? It was never mentioned that I would be required to subscribe to anything without prior notice when I chose a Marantz... Marantz took advantage of and used the free internet radio service as a selling point and today does not take responsibility for the follow-up... the question of honesty arises here.
It’s a deceptive practice!
Looking forward to a response.

Hello,
As a user of an MCR611, I am discovering today the extortion scheme set up by Vtuner, and I am therefore looking for a solution to escape this pathetic racket. Thank you in advance. -
Hello,
vTuner has contacted me several times, without ever really taking into account the information provided.
Moreover, I can perfectly receive vTuner radios on my Mac, but I’m not even trying to exploit this process. Indeed, there’s no reason for the Marantz, which is connected in excellent conditions to my network, not to work.
The problem to be solved is indeed with the Marantz device itself and it's up to the parent company to provide the solution: software update?
In any case, despite my few calls, Marantz France remains silent.
I therefore suggest that, given the degraded situation we are currently facing, we simply stay on standby.
We could act more effectively, in numbers, as soon as we are out of confinement.
Reminder to rally all of us in May or June? -
Hello,
Having written another review on the matter yesterday, I am surprised not to see it on this page. Strange!
I was evaluating and questioning Marantz / Denon (?) on this subject since I receive vTuner radio perfectly well on my Mac.
I suggested waiting until the end of the lockdown to undertake, en masse if I dare say, a formal complaint against Marantz, which remains silent.
To be followed closely therefore. -
ENOUGH TALK, LET'S ACT!
I'm sending you this petition which I hope will be of some use!

Hello,
I'm just adding another stone to the building of those disappointed by Marantz/Denon/Yamaha and others.
I have a SR7008 and a NA6005 = the same punishment as all of you :(
I wrote to Marantz and even referred to their "shitty" communiqué that says to go pay and go screw yourself......, as you might have understood.
Marantz is (was today) a brand that I've cherished for several decades but now the divorce is final, moreover as a member of other forums related to this type of hobby, I will not hesitate to give them the bad publicity they deserve, unless Denon/Marantz quickly revises their behavior.
I also own a Marantz CD6005 and a PM8005, so 4 Marantz devices and it is obvious that these will be replaced by a brand or brands that respect their customers.
Thank you for reading and good luck to all of you, for this and for what concerns us most at the moment.
Best regards. -
I have a NA6005, so the same issue!
Solution!
I connect via Wi-Fi on my phone to vtuner or radio nova directly (so it's free)!
I send it via Bluetooth to my Marantz and there you go!
Forget the system! -
Hello everyone,
I also have a problem with a Marantz.
I just spoke with Marantz's headquarters in the Netherlands. They are defending themselves by saying that it is stated in the manual that the radio is provided by external software. So they are not responsible. As for the notion of false advertising (what is written in the advertisements in stores, what is indicated on the box, or who has access to the manual before buying a product!!!), they don't want to hear about it.
Their new devices work, they say, with HOS. But it is not possible to install it on devices that operated with V-Tune.
Basically, they say they are not responsible, and they end the conversation there.
In short, we got conned by the brand.-
Hello MarantzFedUp,
As I have already written twice on this site, the only culprit is Marantz.
Indeed, I receive perfectly, "loud and clear," the various vTuner stations on my iMac. Therefore, it is not the transmitter that is to blame.
However, on the same network as this iMac, it is impossible to receive vTuner, although recommended by Marantz, on the Marantz receiver.
So it is indeed the receiver that is to be blamed.
QED.

Hello,
With Yamaha, it's been the same for several weeks with Vtuner...!
I've bypassed the scam by using a free Spotify account that I send to the amp through Google Home.

Reading the replies is good... Responding to them afterwards, out of politeness, is better... -
-
Hello
I confirm two things
Firstly, I have signed the petition
Secondly, as I have already mentioned, I can choose and listen to radios on my 611, however none of my initial favorites are working. I can save favorites but when I do a Recall, there's nothing! -
Hello Totixiem07, hello everyone,
I have a DENON. (DENON and MARANTZ are part of the same group for some time now).
I sent a message to the CSA (on their website) telling them that I pay the audiovisual contribution and that it is unacceptable to no longer receive, at the very least, the radio stations from Radio France...
I asked them if there was a possibility, then, to see my TV license fee reduced.
In the meantime (maybe one day...) a response...
I have also delved into another avenue, towards the CSA, by opening a breach (through the radio stations from Radio France).
For your information, I signed the online petition. -
Hello everyone,
Like all of you, I was faced with the issue of vtuner becoming a paid service, charging $3 (per year) to listen to what is free on the internet, which I find simply outrageous.
So, I searched and found a simple way to bypass the problem. If, like me, your amplifier is connected to a local network that includes a PC (or Mac) and a box, then the solution is clearly to use iTunes.
iTunes allows you to stream sound from your PC to the amplifier connected via the "Select the speakers to use" icon.
Then you just need to create your own playlists either by picking from the list of internet radio stations offered for free by iTunes or following this YouTube tutorial (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DMdoFA64RQI) which explains how to record internet radio stations not listed by iTunes.
Enjoy listening to all your favorite radio stations without getting ripped off.-
Thank you, Wanaka.
I had already expressed a nearly equivalent solution since I receive Vtuner perfectly on my Mac.
However, there is no justification for Marantz to not allow Web access at all, at least on my recent MCR611 (November 2019).
And I confirm: it is up to Marantz to get out of this unacceptable situation. There is no reason to use the computer to implement the network receiver.
Best regards.

An effective solution (and better than vtuner) is to use the VRadio app on an Android smartphone (see the page http://www.akouradio.com/)
It offers a wide selection of webradios that can be easily cast via DLNA to the M-CR611 connected to the home network.
Once the broadcast is underway on the Marantz, it is easy to save the stream to favorites with the Add button.
After turning off the M-CR611 and turning it back on, it may be necessary to go through Music Server before the streaming favorites become operational.-
-
Absolutely...
You can install the VRadio app on your smartphone:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ilv.vradio
Once in the app, search for a web radio that interests you, and start listening.
You can then "cast" the stream to the M-CR611 using the small button outlined in red at the top of the screen, as shown in the following image:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/13k-bS2sD_EQVVGWwbMDv8qmo_aEvtYKw/view?usp=sharing
The broadcast switches to the M-CR611.
You can then add the web radio to your favorites on the M-CR611 using the Add button on the remote control.
The stream will work on the M-CR611 independently of your smartphone and the VRadio app. You will find it using the Call button on the remote control.
After turning on the M-CR611, the stream may take a while to load, and you may also need to start by pressing the Music Server button on the remote control and waiting a bit before selecting the web radio using the Call button on the remote control. -
-
No, it is not necessary to buy the app.
The icon may appear after a few seconds.
I think your Marantz is not visible on the home network (your router). Your smartphone also needs to be connected to your router via Wi-Fi.
Perhaps you can check that your Marantz has its IP address (setup on the remote, then network/network information/IP address). -
