Good evening,
I own a Canon Pixma MP210 printer.

I have always used the same cartridges for my printer, which are:

- Black / Noir CANON 40
- INK CARTRIDGE Remanufactured Replaces CAN CL41 COLOR (the chips on the cartridge are blue, magenta and yellow).

I bought new cartridges 2 days ago at the same store where I previously bought mine. Until today, I had never had any printing problems.

When I tried to print a first document, with these new cartridges, the print quality was not good. Let me explain:

This document contained a table (made in Word), which was entirely black/gray as well as the content of this table. When printing, one column of my table appeared in light green rather than gray.



Furthermore, when I modified the same document, I highlighted sentences in yellow (this color printed clearly). However, there were sentences/words where I used red font color. During printing, these red sentences were not present, resulting in broken lines. I then changed the font color to blue to test, and that printed correctly.

I therefore performed a maintenance, as advised by forums.

I started with a cleaning (remove streaks and printing defects) by selecting the print test page.

A window opens and shows 2 patterns to compare with the one printed by the printer during the cleaning. There is, for example, in the "good" pattern:

- 1 horizontal band with the letters "BK" (black) followed by a black grid pattern.
- 2 horizontal bands with the letters "C" (black) & "c" (gray) followed by a thick line. A blue color band, more pronounced, and another band of the same blue, more faded.
- 2 horizontal bands with the letters "M" (black) "m" (gray) followed by a thick line. A magenta color band, more pronounced, and a band of the same magenta, more faded.
- 2 horizontal bands with the letters "Y" (black) "y" (gray) followed by a thick line. A yellow color band, more pronounced and a band of the same yellow, more faded.

The pattern printed by my printer does not really match the 2 indicated patterns, either the recommended one or the one indicating an error. However, if I must choose one, it leans more toward the second pattern which indicates that the printhead nozzles might be clogged. As for the black grid pattern, that one prints more visibly compared to the other test bands, which still have missing squares in the grid. For the letters (uppercase/lowercase) in front of the bands, they print in blue/turquoise while they are supposed to be black or gray. Regarding all other bands, they print in a very faded color and also show white lines. Finally, regarding the magenta color bands, they do not appear on the pattern printed during my cleaning test.

With this finding, I proceeded with a deep cleaning to unclog nozzles that cannot be cleaned with a normal cleaning.

Here is what came out: colored rectangles with letters A to L as well as numbers (+5, +4, -1, etc.). The colored rectangles are tilted with some vertical white lines as well as horizontal white and black lines on others. In addition, for some letters J, K, L and for the numbers +5, +4, +3, +2, +1, 0, -1, -2, -3, -4, -5, no color appears.

    If the ink cartridge also includes the print head (which seems to be the case), your cartridge is defective... There is little chance that cleans will do much... it's better to have it replaced with another one.
