Entry point of the procedure not found in the dynamic link library Solved

Question

Hello,  I am trying to install software (Origin) but I get a "procedure entry point not found" error in the dynamic link library C:\Windows\SYSTEM32\VCRUNTIME140.dll.  I am on Windows 8.1 64-bit.  I have had numerous issues with api-ms-win-runtime-l1.dll which I seem to have managed to resolve. But now I am stuck.  I am also stuck on two Windows updates in Windows Update, which might be what's blocking everything but I don't understand. I run the updates (KB2990967 and KB3063843), the installation is successful but when I search for updates again, they keep reappearing.  I have been searching for hours, I hope someone can help me here. Thank you!  Configuration: Windows / Firefox 70.0

Hello,  This error often occurs when the DLL is too old compared to what the software expects. The function is not present.  Given the errors, your Windows 8 does not seem to be up to date. Especially since the KBs you mentioned are from 2014.  You need to install all the updates for Windows 8.  -- Please press any key to continue the disinfection...

Hi, thanks for your reply! I don’t know anything about computers, but that’s what I understood while browsing the forums. I tried several things, but every time, another problem arises. Since my message yesterday, I apparently managed to fix the entry point issue, but now the error 0xc000007b appears. Regarding my Windows 8, I don’t understand because those are the only two updates that Windows Update finds for me. Thank you for your help!

ok so your Windows Update is stuck. see here and install the indicated updates: https://www.malekal.com/blocage-windows-update-windows8/  If that doesn't unblock Windows Update:  Follow all the steps of this tutorial in order: How to repair or reset Windows Update. A video is provided at the end with details if needed.  1) You can start a SFC scan and repair  Right-click on the start menu then command prompt admin On the result, right-click and run as administrator. In the black command prompt window, type sfc /scannow in the window. At that point, restart.  Then, perform a DISM repair Still in the command prompt window, run these two commands in succession.  DISM /Online /Cleanup-image /Scanhealth DISM /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth  (note, there is a space before each command starting with / /Online /Cleanup-image etc) Make sure the scan and repair completes and no errors appear.  Restart the computer. Try to run the updates again, if it continues to crash, move on to the next step.  2) Repair Windows Update with Windows Repair as indicated in the second part of this page: https://www.malekal.com/reparer-windows-update/   3) If nothing works, you will need to repair Windows 8: how to repair Windows 8 without data loss.

I will try these steps, thank you. However, right from the first update to install, if I go through Microsoft support, I cannot download it manually because the site opens this page:  404 - File or directory not found. The resource you are looking for might have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable.  Is this normal? Thank you.
