Hello,
I am looking to start my PC with a power strip, but I cannot find the option in my BIOS that allows for an Auto power-on.
So, the idea is as follows: when I turn on my power strip, I want my PC to turn on without having to press the "Power" button on the PC. I have managed to do this with other PCs and different BIOS, but here I find nothing at all in the BIOS, in the boot options of the BIOS.
My BIOS is:
American Megatrends Inc. Version: 5.12
I don't know if it is possible to flash the BIOS to obtain this option or not.
I also leave you the report from the CPU-Z software, perhaps this can help some more knowledgeable forum members than I in this area.
Anyway, a big thank you in advance to everyone who can shed some light on this subject.

Hello,
Maybe like this (it will be in English though my instructions, sorry): 1. Power on your computer and press "DEL" or "F1" or "F2" or "F10" to enter BIOS (CMOS) setup utility.
(The way to enter into BIOS Settings depends on the computer manufacturer).
2. Inside BIOS menu, look under the following menus to find a setting named "Restore on AC/Power Loss" or "AC Power Recovery" or "After Power Loss".
"Advanced" or "ACPI" or "Power Management Setup". *- Note: The "Restore on AC/Power Loss" setting can be found under different places inside BIOS setup according to computer manufacturer.
3. Set the "Restore on AC/Power Loss" setting to "Power On".
4. Save and exit from BIOS settings.
Is it resolved?-
Hello lolomusic667,
thank you for your help, but unfortunately I don't have access to those options in the BIOS. I have already gone through the entire BIOS and I can't find the Restore on AC/Power Loss section like I do in other BIOS versions.
I feel like my BIOS is basic as can be, and that's why I'm wondering if I should flash my BIOS to get more options.
Just to remind you, this is an American Megatrends BIOS 5.12 and I've used the Restore on AC/Power Loss options on other PCs, but I can't find this option in this BIOS.
But thanks anyway lolomusic667,- You need to power on the computer (power button), then press and hold the DEL key (or the corresponding key) until the BIOS page appears. I emphasize that you need to press the key repeatedly right at startup, don’t wait for the Windows loading screen, it will be too late!
You will eventually find the exact timing, which will allow you to press the key at the necessary moment.
Now that you are on the BIOS setup page, you will need to proceed with the settings. I agree it’s not very welcoming, but honestly, it’s not meant to be! The graphical layout and the organization of categories differ for each BIOS, but the options generally have similar names.
Before continuing: You need to navigate in the BIOS using the arrow keys (the mouse is not usable). To validate or expand an option, highlight it and press ENTER. To cancel, or go back to the previous page, use ESC.
Look for “Boot” in the tabs at the top, or “Démarrage”. In some BIOS, you need to look for “Advanced BIOS Features” on the main page.
Move using the keyboard arrows.
In the new menu, look for “Boot Device Priority” or “Périphérique de démarrage”. Press ENTER to enter the menu.
You should find a list like the following, which corresponds to the boot order assignment for the devices:
1st Boot Device ---> [XXXXXXX] / 1er Périphérique de Démarrage
2nd Boot Device
3rd Boot Device
Highlight the 1st Boot Device line and press ENTER. A small options window should appear in the foreground.
Navigate in this window and choose CDROM: brand-burner+reference / or CD-ROM Group by pressing ENTER.
When you confirm the desired device (thus the DVD drive), the options window will close and your choice will be applied, but as previously explained, provided you save the settings before exiting.
To save the settings: Press F10 (check the information banners at the bottom or side, where you should find F10: Save and Exit or something similar).
If a confirmation is requested, validate. Your setting will take effect every time the computer starts.
If necessary, you can then swap the choice of the 1st Boot Device (and others too) to choose the floppy drive or the hard disk as the primary boot media.
If you made a mistake or want to exit the setup without saving, press ESC until you get a “Quit Without Saving (Y/N)” window. Choose Yes. The message may also be: “Discard configuration changes and exit now.” In this case, choose “OK.”
