There is no default email client available

Hello,

I’m explaining my problem.

I’m working on Windows 10 with an Office 365 Business pack, and I also have a Windows 2008R2 server that serves as a file server, which has a standard Office 2010 pack installed.

On this server, I back up emails that are important for my profession.
The issue is that when I try to open one of these emails from my PC, the following error message appears:

“There is no default email client, or the current one is unable to fulfill the mail request. Run Microsoft Outlook and set it as the default email client.”

But the thing is that on the server, the default email client selected is indeed Outlook, as it is on my PC.

Thank you for your help.

Configuration: Windows / Firefox 68.0

Hello,
how was the email saved on the server?
what do you do when you want to open an email?
have you tried "open with" and then selecting Outlook to open it?

I don't know exactly how she managed to save them, but I imagine it was with a drag-and-drop.

To open the email, she goes to the shared folder (Windows Explorer network drive) where the emails are located, then she clicks on it and the message appears.

Yes, when I click "open with," I have the same issue (well, my client does), but when I copy the email to my desktop, for example, it works perfectly.

You haven't described your client's position at all; you've only described the server and your PC.
If there is another workstation involved, the initial description becomes a bit confusing.
When you write, "I copy the email to my desktop," which workstation is that on?
Is it indeed a msg type file?
Outlook works well on this workstation, has been set as the default client, but gives an "email client..." message when selected in the list of programs after "open with"?
