Toshiba stuck on Repair Attempts

Hello, I really need help please. My Toshiba Satellite laptop is completely freezing: it crashed, so I had to turn it off to restart it, but at the moment of startup, I have a black screen. Two hours later, only the Windows logo appears above a message saying "diagnosing your PC," and a few minutes after that, it shows "attempting repairs," and that's been going on for 27 hours now. The real problem is that only two keys work: F2 and F12, in other words, the most useless ones. The others don't respond, neither F4 nor F8 nor F7, etc. I’ve tried everything, but nothing works, and I need to submit a paper before the school year starts, so please help me.

    Hi,

    Given the symptoms, it doesn't look good...

    One could think that your hard drive is dead. It's just a matter of how much. Did the PC fall? Did it get a shock or something right before it started to "totally bug out"? :-)

      Never fallen, no impact, it stayed on a desk, I hardly ever carried it precisely for fear that this would happen. And what about the hard drive, how could I handle that?

        Pray that the hard drive is not completely dead.

        As it stands, we need to be able to start the computer from a USB key equipped with a "live" system like Ubuntu, for example. See if it boots up properly from there, and if so, check if the hard drive is still recognized correctly. Then, we will need to consider backing up all important data if it is functioning.

        We can run diagnostics via the live Ubuntu if it boots up.
