Hello,

I have an old Macbook 2007 version 10.6.8, macbook 3,1 that I would like to reset. The command [command + R] does not work.

Do you have another method?

Thank you

Configuration: Macintosh / Chrome 75.0.3770.100

Good evening,

This MacBook, being under Snow Leopard (10.6.x), cannot start from a "Recovery" partition at all; this function only works starting from Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion).
This model can actually be upgraded to this OS, which can still be purchased here:
https://www.apple.com/fr/shop/product/D6106ZM/A/os-x-lion?fnode=6727350138e9ef87dfc24247d2db6ca36033b8a9574fa39c0dd209553ba12820b97b2b5744027740a8b37dbaea275ab32a0398668a1403b2acdbeece4e87625a913ce80d4b8b5a42c2a8870c45080583c60149579f57c99e91f1393f6b75a10e

install Lion Mac OS X 10.7
However, you will need to upgrade the memory to the maximum possible, which is 6 GB: 1 stick of 4 GB and 1 stick of 2 GB of this type:
200-pin PC2-5300 (667MHz) DDR2 SO-DIMM

Otherwise, to reset the model, you need to have the installation disks that were originally supplied. Insert disk 1 into the drive, boot while holding down the C key.
When you arrive at the installation window, ignore it initially, go to the utilities menu, launch Disk Utility, select the hard drive (HD), format it, knowing that you will lose all the data on it, and then you can install the original OS. (10.5 certainly)
Then you can install 10.6 with the installation disk.
Now, if you simply want to sell or give away the Mac, you need to delete all personal data; Francis's method, which is as follows, is sufficient.

"Pretty simple, really.

You make all updates to OS X.
Then, once that's done, from your current administrator account, create a new user with admin rights for the Mac. (System Preferences / Users & Groups...) Give it a fake name like totolafouine, a fake password like toto... etc...
You restart the Mac under a session of this new Administrator user and go back to System Preferences to delete your current account by requesting immediate deletion of the corresponding directory.
Then, to prevent any future recovery of deleted data, you launch Disk Utility, and there you request "Erase Free Space..." (THIS OPTION DOES NOT EXIST ANYMORE SINCE EL CAPITAN)

And that's it."

Best regards.

When it's urgent, it's already too late (Talleyrand)
When everything has failed, read the manual ;)
