Write in two independent columns Solved

Question

Hello,

I am currently creating a two-column meal menu, with wines on the left and the menu on the right.
When I try to move the text down in the left column, it also moves the text in the right column down, and if it's too low, it writes it on the next page. How can I make the two columns independent so that there is no impact between them?

Hello,

Many users are eager to use the Columns function for columns that need to remain independent. This is not the right solution. The Columns function is designed for newspaper-style column layout.

For independent columns like yours, the simplest way is to use a two-column table. This way you will never have any interaction between the two columns.

Perfectly right (as always), m@rina!  randall being rather reticent, we can only imagine what system he has chosen... There's even the option to insert two text boxes side by side! Or to choose to insert an Excel table, for those who, like me, prefer Excel to Word for managing column widths, row heights, and layout for printing...  Best regards. -- Retirement is great! I had two documents of 3 pages each that I wanted to align side by side, so that they ran opposite each other in two columns. It was impossible to use the "two columns" function by simply separating the two documents with a column break. The first text ran across two columns, then the next one followed in two columns. The only way to achieve this layout was to use the "Table" function, to define "two columns" and "one row" and to insert the first document into the left column, then to insert the second document into the right column. I achieved my goal. Thank you for the suggestion.

It should be noted that I created this layout with LibreOffice Writer on PC. The only change I had to make was to modify the background from gray (default) in the "Properties" of the table to display the text on a white background and thus save on printing.
