Hello,
First of all, thank you for your attention.
I have an old PC that I think I bought in 2005, so it's running Windows XP, I believe.
As you can see, I'm not very good with computers; I manage to use my computer, but as soon as there's a problem, I'm stuck!
I've just moved, and I can't install the Wi-Fi from my new livebox.
I absolutely need to access my computer to print documents that I have in an email, documents that I must send by post to the local court in another department tomorrow.
I've tried following the instructions I found online and even here on the site, but I can't manage; there are certain details that are beyond me, or buttons that I can't find... anyway!!
I'm begging you, please help me.
Thank you in advance.

Hello,
The problem with wanting to drive without knowing how to drive... Anyway, that's your concern... but there are books to learn new things and not stay stuck your whole life... etc...
So you have a LiveBox... which model and also a 2005 PC Brand and model... it would be better to know..
You mention Wi-Fi... But that's not a necessity... You can also connect your PC to the back of your BOX with an RJ45 cable, one is provided with each BOX..
With this connection, we will already know if your internet from the LiveBox is working well and also your PC. There's no key to enter, it will be easier for you. And it works after a few seconds...
So you can quickly get your documents out, print them and send them to the court...
If it works this way, we can talk about Wi-Fi calmly later... If your PC does have Wi-Fi..?

You're right about the driving without knowing how to drive, but... I'm not 20 anymore, nor 30... well!
So, my computer is a Packard Bell NEC XP (professional (5.1, Generate 2600) / Intel (R) Pentium(R) 4 and the Livebox 3 FR black (Orange)
I know that you can connect to the internet via cable, the problem is that the Livebox is in another room, I can't change that, the socket is over there and it requires a 15-20 m cable, going through 2 doors, it's complicated
I've already had Wi-Fi on this computer, in my old apartment, but I had another Livebox (also Orange) and it worked without any issues, I don't understand why I can't set up the new one, there must be a conflict or something like that. The problem is that I don't know where to look and I'm afraid of making a bigger mess...
I've already entered the code for the new Livebox but it doesn't work
Thank you for helping me.
As for the Cable, I can't provide it via the Forum... it’s up to you to find it... if you can’t move your BOX, you can move the PC... The important thing is to be able to get the documents you need... Or else, it’s not that important.
The liveBox, the Wifi indicator must be on... for the wifi to be working... then you have a "WPS" button, press it for 3 or 5 seconds (see the manual) and then you have 10 minutes to connect your PC to the wifi...
So all you have to do is click on "connect" on the PC for it to work automatically.
I can’t plug in a cable, nor move the computer, nor move the live box; if it were possible, I would have done it a long time ago (I may not know much about computers, but I’m not stupid, after all!!) Of course the live box is on.
And I installed the wifi before on this same PC with the old live box, so I know how to do it, but it doesn’t work.
As for the model, I don’t understand... I gave you this information: my computer is a Packard Bell NEC XP (professional (5.1, Generate 2600) / Intel (R) Pentium (R). For the XP, it’s version 2002; I don’t understand what more to provide you, please explain to me.
If I'm here, it’s because I need help.
Thank you.
iMedia XS (PT.U31-PV.U31)
iMedia XS (PT.U32-PV.U32)
iMedia XS (PT.U42-PV.U42)
iMedia XS (PT.U54-PV.U54) yours may be quite different.
Here is the page from Packard Bell showing the different models.. https://www.packardbell.com/pb/fr/FR/content/download Yours should have a sticker on the side or back, or underneath, showing the brand, model and serial number and other info..
You should have antennas sticking out at the back of this PC..??
Do you have other devices connected to this BOX in your house..? and particularly to the wifi..??
You only saw the box light on... Did you read the rest..? which explains how to connect... Did you do it..?? what is the result..? if there are error messages, they should be provided here, word for word..
Too bad, the court will wait.
