Why does the last seen time on Viber change?

Hello,
I would like to know why the last seen time of my contact is changing on Viber.
For example: I check my contact on my phone, and I see they were online 10 minutes ago, I look again 5 minutes later and now I see they were online 30 minutes ago, and it can vary even more, online at 11 AM, 5 minutes later online at 10 AM, and online at 11 AM, 5 minutes later online yesterday at 11 AM.
I thought about the time difference, since I'm in France and the person I'm talking about lives in Ukraine, but not for a backdated difference of a day.
Does anyone have an explanation?

    thank you for your response, I downloaded Viber in November 2016,
    but I think there may have been updates, although I'm not sure.

    I don't know how to check that.
