Hello,
I'm seeking help today for a problem I'm facing.
I listed my apartment on Airbnb, and I received a Hadopi notice this morning for illegal downloading.
So of course, I have the date and time of the download, it wasn't me who initiated this.
I called Airbnb, who made it clear that basically, they can't do anything about it.
I tried to contact Hadopi, but without success, the phone number doesn't work. I sent them an email, but I don't really expect a response.
It's just a first warning letter, but I'm thinking about future tenants, and I can easily imagine this happening again in the future, and I don't want to pay a fine for something I didn't do.
I'd like to know if there's a way to block torrent downloads on the router?
By closing ports or something that can be set up?
Knowing that tenants come with their laptops, so I can’t install anything on their PCs, it would have to be something that can be set up on the router.
If someone has a solution for my problem, it would be a great help to me.
Thank you,
Have a nice day :)

Hi,
it's all well and good to rent out your apartment, but it can't all be profit; you have to accept certain costs and investments.
I don't think the Freebox can block that; on the contrary, it tends to encourage it. I hope I'm proven wrong for your sake, but if not, you need to install a real filtering firewall that only allows web surfing; that will give you some peace of mind, unless the user of the network decides to make terrorist threats or visit pedophile sites.
Anyway, in these circumstances, HADOPI is the lesser evil; you could face much worse accusations in this game that you'll have to take responsibility for the same way.
So:
for your tenants, set up a proper internet filtering system; there are products for that and record their browsing in a proxy, otherwise you could get into much more trouble than you think.

Well, while continuing to search, I found a somewhat expensive solution, but for peace of mind:
https://wifi.2isr.fr/comparer-nos-offres.html
Basically, they provide a device that we connect behind the box.
And it manages the internet access of the house, it creates an authentication portal and everything is filtered from there.
This is what large establishments (madco, hotels, etc.) generally use.
They offered me a reasonable rate for my usage, so there you go.
To really be at ease, I will take this, I don't really want to tinker with it myself, it’s the kind of thing where you end up getting into trouble sooner or later.
Thanks again for your help!

If he has a rental contract, he will easily prove that it is not him.
When you borrow or rent a car, it is not the rental company that is responsible for all your infractions.
Well, yes,
as long as the registration is the proof, they are responsible; then it's up to them to prove they weren't driving, which is why they have a copy of the tenant's driver's license.
For the internet, it's a different matter; nothing proves that the subscription holder wasn't on site and didn't use the access.
Why do you think hotels and campgrounds protect themselves behind proxies and captive portals, to torture their clients?
No, just to certify who was doing what on the internet access at that moment.
It's the same for companies, even though HADOPI won't waste its time bothering them.
