Unable to format USB drive Solved

For a USB device

I'm posting this message to ask for advice.
I have a small issue since I put the Debian ISO file on it; a little problem occurred and I can no longer format it, and the data is likely damaged.
I used the registry method without success.

Try this command:

- Run (Windows + R)
- Type cmd then press enter
- In the window that opens, type "diskpart"
- list disk
- select disk x (x being the number of the external hard drive)
- clean
- create partition primary
- format fs=ntfs quick
- active
- assign
- exit to quit diskpart

exit to quit command prompt

Hi,

Unless the problem comes from your USB controller driver?

Your USB drive might have a hardware issue, maybe a broken solder joint, can you open it and check?

Or maybe it's its BIOS?

Reinstall the driver, and if that doesn't work, download ChipGenius

Then, post its log.

Maybe (slim chances but maybe) we can do something.

I tried to look for a driver but the troubleshooting utility for devices keeps crashing.

It's a key with an Alcor controller and 8Gb of memory; if it shows more, it's a fake.

You can try flashing it with this:
AlcorU2MP 18.09.07.MD {AU6989SN-GTC/GTD/GTE}; AlcorMP(180907.MD).rar; size: 7,129,166 bytes

PS: Make sure you take the right one for the AU6989SN-GTC controller and the latest version.

Last thing,

The Alcor tool installs a service named DrvCovEx which is no longer needed

You can remove its startup entry with:

Autornus.exe (32 bit)
Autoruns64.exe (64 bit)

In the Services section

Extract all the files from Autoruns before running it as an administrator by right-clicking

And you can then delete the file in:

C:\Windows\System32\DrvCovEx.exe (32 bit)
