Unable to send a direct message to a contact on Instagram

Hello everyone, and happy new year!
So I'm coming to you hoping that someone finds a solution to a problem that is bothering me a bit,
I can't send private messages on Instagram (DM), it says "Send failed" with a little red cross next to my message that won't send. I don't know if I am blocked or not. If someone has an idea where this issue might be coming from.
I have already tried to find the solution myself, by restarting the phone, logging out of the app, and uninstalling it, nothing works..
