Hello,
I haven't been able to send any emails since April 11 from my La Poste mailbox, whether on their webmail or through my messaging software, Thunderbird. I've sent messages to laposte.net on their dedicated site https://aide.laposte.net/webmail-version?solution=faq, but I only received a pointless message asking me questions without answering mine.
The error message I receive via Thunderbird is: "An error occurred while sending the message: the mail server sent an incorrect greeting: lpn-prd-vrin003 ESMTP not accepting connections" (or ...vrin001... or ...vrin002... or ...vrin004...).
The one from the webmail is: unable to send email: mail.SEND_FAILURE
Send an error report (I've done it several times).
I went to a La Poste agency, they are aware of the problem, but have no directive and don't know what to do except send a message on the site.
I definitely feel like I'm going in circles. This causes functional problems for me just like for many of you. (job searching, starting a business on April 2, contacting various administrations). Am I going to have to change my email address and update it on numerous sites? It's really annoying, to put it politely.
Does anyone have a solution or any information?
Thank you in advance for your help, if possible!

I'm going to try to advance this topic a bit.
First of all, we need to make sure we're talking about the same problem.
Error messages vary depending on how you connect to La Poste's email service.
In my case, on my phone:
- with a local email client (bluemail):
Error: 554 lpn-prd-vrin001 ESMTP not accepting connections
- via a connection on the mobile site (https://m.laposte.net):
An error occurred on the server, please try again later or by connecting from your computer.
- via a connection on the classic site (https://www.laposte.net/accueil):
Sending impossible (DATA failed: 550 5.7.2 Message refused; Emails sent to the Laposte.net email service have been blocked by our services. The last message is the most interesting as it gives an IP address.
Note: to access the classic site with your phone, open the browser, in the options check the version for computer, then enter or paste the URL www.laposte.net/accueil.
I think that with the IP address we can determine if the problem comes from our end or not. (I have always had an IP address that corresponded to an access provider's equipment and not my phone).
If the problem comes from our end, then we should start by cleaning our devices (PC, phone, box, ...)
If the problem doesn't come from our end, I see 2 possibilities:
- the equipment (probably a router) of the access provider is not clean (it has security vulnerabilities).
Maybe by contacting the provider we can resolve the issue.
- at least one person on the network has used the access provider's router with an unclean device (infected PC).
In this case, it's the security software that La Poste uses that is poorly designed or poorly configured and therefore the problem comes from La Poste, but if that's the case, I feel that La Poste doesn't want to admit it.
On my side, this problem has been ongoing for a month.
In a few cases (but very rarely) I have managed to send messages depending on the Wi-Fi connection I was using. But I have never succeeded with my local telephone operator. I even tried with VPNs but without success.
I have tried with several devices (phones, tablet), but it's the same.
So I find it hard to believe that nearly all the operators I use have unclean equipment.
I also find it hard to believe that all my equipment is unclean and that sometimes they would be clean.
In short, I strongly believe that the problem lies with La Poste.
La Poste's customer service has given me the same inappropriate response twice and since then they no longer want to respond.
Perhaps, as cox89 says, we can resolve the situation with an SMTP configuration but:
- removing SSL doesn't seem like a good idea from a security standpoint.
- the solution only works with the local email client.
- since it's not standard, it may stop working if La Poste makes a change.
In short, on my side, I am now using another email service, even though it took me a lot of time to change the settings for all the institutional accounts that knew me with my La Poste address.
Note: perhaps my analysis of the problem is not quite accurate, or completely off base, but in the absence of dialogue, which is totally unacceptable, with La Poste's customer service, we can only make assumptions.
