Hello,

Recently, when I try to go online via Chrome or Internet Explorer, I get a message: "No internet connection: the proxy server is presenting an error or the address is incorrect."
I've looked online, and to fix this issue, I need to go into the connection settings and click on "network settings," but the "network settings" icon is grayed out on my computer, so it's impossible to click on it. What should I do?!

resolved after disabling "use a proxy server" in "settings" - "network and internet" - "Proxy" - "manual proxy setup" - "use a proxy server" - "Disabled"

Hello,

I had the same issue on Windows 10. It turns out to be a malware that blocks your access to network settings (after doing some research)

I reinstalled Windows because none of the current tools work to fix the problem.

I advise you in the future not to use Windows Defender (recent vulnerability, see articles on the web, for example: https://www.ginjfo.com/actualites/securite-informatique/windows-defender-un-correctif-de-securite-se-deploie-en-urgence-20180404 but rather to use an antivirus like Avast: (ranking on av-test.org) https://www.av-test.org/fr/antivirus/particuliers-windows/

Hello

If you are using Internet Explorer, do the following:
1 If you are using Internet Explorer.
Click on → Start → Control Panel.
Then → Network and Internet, then → Internet Options.
You will open the Internet Options window.

2 Click on the → Connections tab.
At the bottom, a box is visible → Local Area Network Settings.
Click on the → LAN Settings button.
You will open a dialog box.

3 Uncheck the box next to → Use a proxy server for your local network.
Click OK to exit the dialog box.
Click OK again in the Internet Properties window.
The proxy server is disconnected.
