suddenly on my landline when I press the buttons the numbers do not display on the screen.
could this be due to the batteries or...........

    Indeed, it could come from there... that's the first thing to test...
    Fixed, okay, but wired or wireless?
    Are you receiving calls or not at all?
    In standby, what does it display?
    Brand and model, maybe....?!

      my landline phone is a sagecomcc20r cordless
      I receive calls but when I press a number it doesn't work

        Sagecomcc20r, isn't there a mistake in the reference?
        Shouldn't it be Sagemcom CC220R?

        Just in case, a long press on the * (star) key locks or unlocks the keyboard....
