Hello,
I just installed 2x8GB of RAM on my Gigabytes Z87-DS3H motherboard.
They are Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600MHz CL9 sticks.
I placed them in the two blue slots. Everything is working perfectly.
Previously, in those two blue slots, I had 2x4GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600 MHz, CAS 9. So the same brand, the same frequency, etc...
In your opinion, can I place those last two sticks in the remaining two black slots, theoretically increasing from 16GB to 24GB?
It seems to me that these four sticks being the same model and differing only in capacity should work, or am I mistaken? Thank you for any help you can provide.

    Hello,

No worries. It's mainly about placing the memory sticks in pairs of 2 identical ones to take advantage of dual-channel.

So, as it stands, there should be no risk of it getting stuck.

Especially since the motherboard supports up to 32GB spread across the 4 slots, so 8GB max per slot.

For VR, it's not really the RAM that's needed, but mainly a fully compatible graphics card and a processor that can keep up with everything... ;-))

I’m equipped with GFX, my budget only allows for a 1060 6GB for now, but with my i7 backing me up, it runs smoothly!!! We’ll see about a 1080TI in a few months...;);)
