Change the default destination of a scanned file.

Hello, when I scan a file, it automatically goes to an external hard drive that I no longer have! So, of course, it appears on the screen, but it bothers me!
How can I change the destination of my scanned files so that I find them in the folder of my choice?
My scanner is an HP Deskjet F 2290 (All in one), and I'm running Windows 7.

    On my printer, I have a " Browse " tab (which opens but goes through photo software) to change the destination with this tab or window?

    Otherwise, is there a way to change the destination in Windows using free photo software? I can guide you through this process if you want...

      No, I don't have a "browse"!
      Thank you, but I want to keep it simple, which means I click on my "scan" shortcut and normally, by default, I would like my files to be saved in the right place.

    Hi,

    I searched a bit and tested the scanning tool of Win7. Since there is no designated place to change the default destination folder, I took a little detour that might help you.

    I shared the destination folder with everyone, granting Full control permission, and then I chose to Include the library (right-click) My Documents. It creates a duplicate though...

    It's strange that you are by default in another folder... are you using the fax and scan tool of Win7? If not, let me know what you are using :)

      Hello,
      My scanner is an HP Deskjet F 2290 (All in one), and I'm running Windows 7.
      I place a document on the glass, and I have a shortcut on the desktop called "scan a document," I open it, and a window opens.
      There, I can change the device I want to use (my printer, for example), I can choose the profile (photo (default), the source (flatbed). But all that, I don’t know what it means, but it’s not a big deal!
      Then, I can choose between "color; black and white; and grayscale," the file type (Jpeg) and the resolution that I usually set to 300 dpi.
      I can also adjust the brightness and contrast, and finally, in the bottom right, there are 3 buttons:
      Preview, Scan, and Cancel.
      So, I click "preview," there I can crop the image, then I click on scan, and the file ends up in "Libraries," and on an external hard drive that I no longer have, in a folder that no longer exists either, by recreating the folder I had called "Only photos," right next to my new folder now called "My photos and videos."
      So, there’s confusion!
      I think that when I installed my printer, I was asked for the destination, but now, I no longer have access to this question!
      I hope you see the situation better! I was aiming for the simplest thing with this desktop shortcut, I don't know how to do it any other way!

      Yes, the shortcut is a much better idea, I realize it wasn't a very pertinent solution ;). But I still wanted to solve the puzzle... I managed to set my default destination folder back to the My Documents directory. Basically, you need to delete the current destination folder, uninstall the scanning feature, and then reinstall it. So:

      Delete the current destination folder

      Uninstallation:
      Control Panel, Programs, Windows Features, Print and Document Services, uncheck Windows Fax and Scan.

      Reboot

      Installation:
      Repeat the uninstallation steps, but check Windows Fax and Scan.

      No need to reboot.

      Start a scan (to create the destination folder)

      The destination folder is named Scanned Documents in the My Documents directory.
