Unable to transfer my data to an external drive

Hello,
I have a few issues with my computer and I would like to attempt to format the hard drive to fix them. So, I got an external hard drive to save my data before formatting (it's a LACIE drive that I use at work, I've never had any issues with it).
However, when I connect it to my personal PC and try to copy and paste the data I want to save, it starts transferring them, then stops displaying the following message: "an unexpected error has occurred, error 0x80070079: the semaphore timeout period has expired." I have tried folders of different sizes, and this issue occurs more or less quickly but for all file sizes.
I searched a bit online and came across the CHKDSK solution that had worked for some. So I tried it (admin mode console, CHKDSK on drive C). The PC restarts and after 2 hours of waiting, the check is complete. However, I don't know the outcome of this check, if anything has been repaired because I didn't get any report; it just took me straight to my session.
Nevertheless, I tried to copy my data again, and still the same issue. So, could someone help me? I really want to keep several folders before formatting.

Hello,
You may have a physical problem with your hard drive. Use the software CrystalDiskInfo to check it.
Whether your hard drive is physically defective or not, use the software Ultracopier.
If there are write failures, it continues with the rest of your files. At the end of the copy, you have a tab "errors" that shows you the files that could not be copied. For these files, check if you can open them, and let us know the response.-

Thank you for your quick reply. I downloaded CrystalDiskInfo, and when I open it, I see "health status: good" in blue. From what I've seen online, is that a good sign?
I haven't downloaded the other software, but the files where the transfer stops seem random, and I can open them without any issues, whether they're photos, PPT, videos, ...
I should mention that when I get this error, I then have the options to ignore/cancel/retry, but whatever I do, Windows Explorer crashes (the folders become unresponsive and my wallpaper turns black).
EDIT: CrystalDiskInfo gives me several pieces of information that I don't know how to interpret. For example, current read error rate: current 200 / max 200 / threshold 51. That seems strange, doesn't it?
