Hello,
My question is quite simple:
This afternoon, I signed up for a Bbox Miami fiber subscription with Bouygues.
Even though I left with all the equipment, an appointment was automatically scheduled with an installer.
I explained to them that I am a savvy tech enthusiast and perfectly capable of installing the box myself, but they replied that the technician would need to open a box with special keys and modify something if the fiber in my building wasn't "Bouygues Télécom."
However, when I check my eligibility on Bouygues' website, everything matches up.
Fiber is fiber, right? Isn't there just one type of fiber for each operator?!
Anyway, here I am back home with the box, all the equipment, and the technician arriving in 20 days.
You can understand my temptation to install everything myself.
I am a reasonable person, and I wouldn't be tempted to do this myself if there was the slightest risk.
So, can I install my damn box myself??
Configuration: Android / SamsungBrowser 5.4

Hi,
if the fiber was with Orange before, it's already true fiber, not the fake Numéricâble (coaxial termination).
Even if you're eligible, the fiber is certainly still connected to Orange at the common cabinet point of mutualization).
Although the PTOs were intended to bring in 4 different operators from the PM to your home, unfortunately often only one fiber is present inside, so either you need to add one for Bouygues, or move the existing one at the PM to connect it to Bouygues.
Also,
they probably didn't provide you with the ONT between the box and the PTO socket, which allows you to be identified by the ISP; it is usually configured by the technician and not provided with the box for now, although ...
