Good evening,
I have acquired an embroidery software PE Design 10 for my self-employed business, and I would like to make a backup of the USB key that allows me to run the program. I copied all the contents of the key onto another backup key, and when I launch the application with the backup key, it does not recognize it! Can I make a "duplicate" of this software key or is that impossible? Is there a specific technique? (I'm too afraid of losing it... the software costs an arm and a leg...)
Thank you for your responses.
Have a good evening.
Configuration: Windows / Chrome 60.0.3112.113

Hello
Generally, it’s not the software files that cost an arm and a leg, but the license key you buy. Normally, with your key, you should be able to download the software in question, right?
Otherwise, it’s not the installed software that should be put on the key, but its installation files.

Hi
You can't duplicate this dongle. It's specifically designed to protect against copying
In case of issues, you need to contact the supplier for a replacement key

Ah, I had read too quickly, I hadn't understood that the software was already on a key provided by the supplier.
In that case, we need to check with the seller what they offer in case of loss or damage to the key.
There might be a way to attempt a bit-by-bit copy with dd; if they haven't put any specific hardware on the key, it could work.
But you'll need to use a live CD or live USB of Linux to run it.
