Hello,

I have a song file on my PC that I would like to sing karaoke style. But it won't play. Its suffix is ".kar"...
- Does anyone know how to convert it to ".kfn" (karaoke music)?
It's just a little "urgent" because I want to learn this song quickly to sing it at a party... in a week.
Thank you in advance!
Best regards,

    Hi monikamedis,

The karaoke format is indicated by the .kar suffix

The .kfn suffix is specific to the karafun software which combines music, lyrics, and images...

.kar files are midi files to which lyrics have been added. They are played (the music) by audio players like WMP or VLC.

If you want to have the lyrics with the music, you need to use karaoke software like karafun or Vanbasco

Why do you want to convert it to .kfn? Your .kar should be readable by most players. Are you using karafun? It can read .kar...

If it doesn't work, your file may be corrupted. Do you have a link to check?

If you don't have a karaoke player, I recommend installing Vanbasco, which is lighter and more complete than karafun.

    Hello Surf Ad Com,
Thank you for your explanations that help me understand a bit better. I will delve into it more, but first, I’ll answer your two questions:

    - I like to sing at home, most often alone, and sometimes with friends. In both cases, and especially the first one, I like to have the music as a support, but WITHOUT THE WORDS: they "suffocate" my voice.

    - I do indeed have the KARAFUN software (which I don't handle well since it's very new to me); additionally, I haven’t managed to find just the music for a song by Guy BEART "les couleurs du temps."
I thought that by changing the suffix "kar" of this song to KFN, I would remove the lyrics. Thanks to your explanations, I understand that this is not the case.
I will therefore have to look for another solution to obtain what I want, which is: the music without the singer's and the choir's lyrics. If you have a solution...

In any case, thank you again for your response!
    Best regards,
    Monikamedis

I didn't explain myself well, when I say that .kar files are .midi files to which lyrics have been added, I mean that we added text that scrolls on the screen... not voices.

Normally Karafun can read .kar files, if it can't read your file, it must be corrupted. Try making a copy and renaming the .kar extension to .mid, it might work to get the sound, but you won't have the scrolling lyrics.

You might also try the vanbasco software.
