Reduce the size of PES files

I just bought a Brother embroidery machine. Included is a USB stick with .PES embroidery files. I downloaded other embroidery files, but they are too large (e.g., 100KB) and the machine only accepts a maximum of 40. How can I reduce these files without damaging the image so that the machine will accept them?

Also, how can I read PES files on my computer?

    I am not an embroidery specialist.
    However, your files are coding, and since your machine only accepts 40 KB, it's probably because it can't process more code.

    I think you should be able to read them with a code editor like
    notepad++ which is free or coreldraw which is paid.

    Hello,

    it should be a format with a well-defined structure so that it can find its way.
    I highly doubt that you can compress them without losing data, while keeping them readable.
    A priori you can create your own patterns with CorelDRAW: https://www.online-convert.com/fr/format-fichier/pes

    Surely you will be able to edit your files and reduce the pattern until you reach 40kb
