Connect my laptop's internal hard drive to my desktop PC

Hello everyone,

My laptop has completely stopped working and I would like to recover the photos that are on its hard drive. I would like to know how to retrieve them. Is it enough to just connect it to my desktop and extract the photos onto an external hard drive? But is there any danger in doing that?
