I bought and activated Avast Cleanup on February 26, 2017, and it deleted all my image files and documents. How can I go about recovering them? I'm in a panic!!!

    Hello,

It is possible to recover deleted files, but regardless of the software, it is never guaranteed that all files will be readable afterwards.

Try using the Recuva software: https://www.ccleaner.com/recuva/download/standard

If you have any questions about how to use it, let me know.

    Best regards

Thank you for your quick response. I downloaded Recuva yesterday, but it indicates over 64,000 files that can be recovered by checking boxes. I don't know which ones to check, and that's really a lot. I started by checking everything that began with IMG, but it was marked as unrecoverable.
      I'm desperate.....

you don't really have a choice, you will have to restore everything, and sort the files by type, and thus recognize your files, to differentiate them from hidden and system files.

Unfortunately, as you said, some are unrecoverable and this is irreversible. When you have performed a restoration, some files will remain unreadable and unrecoverable.

Unfortunately, there is nothing to be done in this case.

By observing, you see that there are indicators next to the files, red for unrecoverable, yellow for probably, green for recoverable.

      Hello,
I spent my weekend on this with very little results.
Not much, with Recuva I managed to recover a few photos but most were unrecoverable. I wrote to Avast support, but they replied that it was impossible for Avast Cleanup to have deleted my photos and documents!
I also tried to recover them from my hard drive, but nothing at all.
So I've come to terms with it and bought an external hard drive to back up my files!!!
Thanks again to you because you are the only one who replied to me.
