Hello,
I'm just starting with The Gimp and I'm unable to validate a selection, so I have a dotted square that won't go away and I can only work within that square... I've already tried select > none but it doesn't work. Do you know how to do it?

Configuration: Windows 7 / Chrome 55.0.2883.87

    Hello,

You click on a tool, like the brush or another one, and everything goes back in order.

I had already tried but it doesn't work. I managed to remove the extra selections but I didn't really understand how, I think by changing the "layer" by going to the background and doing "selection > none."

        Re.....

If you have opened new layers, you need to select the corresponding layer to work on.

    Good evening,

As Végé said: change layer, these dotted lines indicate the dimensions and positions of the active layers, so when you change layers the pseudo selections disappear:

    Hi Végé,

    How are you?

Best wishes for this new year.

    Best regards.

      Hi Luke,

I’m recovering very well from my stroke, it was really tough, but it’s behind me now. I hope everything is going well for you.
      Happy New Year
      Best wishes
