Hello, I am looking for help as I am traveling and I want to connect to the B&B hotel wifi with my phone (Android) which works fine, but my computer won't connect and is stuck in (limited, open) mode. I noticed some comments about updating the driver, etc., but I have no issues since I am currently connected through tethering with my phone, which recognized the connection immediately, etc. So I don't know what to do if anyone has a solution.
I tried in (command prompt)
netsh int ip reset
netsh winsock reset
I also restarted and there was no improvement. Thank you for your help.

Hello,
Several things to check:

Several things to check:
- That your DNS servers are acquired automatically
- That your IP on the network card is acquired automatically
- That you do not have to open a web page to identify yourself before gaining "Internet" access

I don't know how to check all of this. And I don't understand why it works fine on a box at some people's places.
Several things to check:
Make sure your DNS servers are acquired automatically
Make sure your IP on the network card is acquired automatically
You should not have to open a web page to identify yourself before having "Internet" access
In this case, go to "Network and Sharing Center" -> "Change adapter settings" (in the left menu normally), find the relevant network card (the Wi-Fi one, if it's a Wi-Fi connection) -> right-click and "Properties" then check the list and find "IPv4" -> "Properties" and make sure everything is configured to automatic.
If that doesn't suffice, then check the antivirus or the network type assignment.
