Hello,
I am with Orange Mobicarte and I no longer have an Orange mobile hotspot available. I used it to connect unlimited via the code #125#, but now I no longer have signal. I have decided to opt for "the prêt à surfer 3Go internet" of Mobicarte using mobile data connection. My question is: "how much does 3GO of mobile internet correspond to, especially using an app like Canal Play that allows me to watch live TV since I don't have a TV at home?"
I am on it for 2 to 3 hours a day.

I also have to resort to using my phone as a mobile hotspot to get internet on my PC. I imagine that this increases data consumption.
Thank you in advance for your help, advice, and opinions.
Oh yes, I almost forgot...will my VPN also cause an increase and if so to what extent?

Thank you

Configuration: iPhone / Safari 4.0

Hello,

I personally had 2GB of internet which I used very often throughout the day and I never managed to exhaust my data by the end of the month, so 3GB is more than enough for 2 to 3 hours of phone use per day. However, your PC will consume a lot more internet depending on what you do on it. Personally, I switched to 20GB per month to use it occasionally on my PC since I don't have much home internet and I also use it frequently on my phone. But of course, it always depends on what you're doing! You mentioned that you watch TV on an app, and such an app really doesn't take up much internet, so I think that should be sufficient.

Best regards,

I paid 25 euros if I remember correctly. It's clear that I won't be able to afford to top up several times in a month.
If I understand correctly, I need to lower the video quality to the lowest setting. The choices available are high, medium, and low quality.
As for the VPN, I have to forget about it and surf for shorter periods. Regarding the PC, I will store it in the cupboard.
Do you know of any other more advantageous Orange offers or options than mine? (Without a box)

Yes, of course. Do you want to stay with Orange? Because I have 20GB and I pay €10 per month being with RED by SFR only with my mobile plan.

I want to stay with Orange to keep my number. I think it's impossible to keep it if I change operators. Does your Red offer come with a commitment? 12, 24? I would like an offer without commitment. Maybe I'm asking for a bit too much...

Oh yes, alright, no unfortunately. No, it is without commitment, more info here: https://www.red-by-sfr.fr/forfaits-mobiles/ Yes, I think a little lol I don't think Orange does that but if you don't want to change your number you're going to have to look for something else I think...

I just saw something about number portability. It's possible, but there are only examples with plans that require a commitment. "Portability". I will look into this and get information about RED. I'm afraid that with a pay-as-you-go card, I might not be entitled to much regarding number portability.
Thank you for your quick responses

EDIT: The option for number portability is offered for RED and 5GO plus calls and texts for 10 euros. This is nice, but I still need to know how long my current 3GB will last with regular use, and then I will consider RED.

Hello,
If you're watching streaming videos for 2 to 3 hours a day, clearly, your 3GB will only last you for 1 day if those videos are in HD.
Video quality:
- Low: up to 0.3GB per hour
- Medium: standard video quality, up to 0.7GB per hour
- High: optimal video quality, up to 3GB per hour for HD and 7GB per hour for Ultra HD

Surfing also consumes data, and your VPN, even if you’re not using it but it's connected, will also consume.
