Hello everyone, I have a problem with Windows Movie Maker. I created a video, and when I try to reopen my project, an error message appears saying "not implemented," so I can't open my project! I'm using Vista! Please help me, I have already spent over 10 hours on the video!
Thank you
Julien

The same thing happened: video not implemented (what does implemented mean??) and I managed to recover my work by re-importing ALL the files that were in my project!!
I tried to import just one image, it didn't work, but by doing:
1- open movie maker
2- import image: import ALL the images that are in your project
3- import audio: import ALL the audio tracks that were in the montage
4- file/open a project
5- open my project
and it worked!!!!!!!! I hope it works for you, I often work with movie maker and I know very well how frustrating it is to start over!!!

Hello everyone, I’m in the same situation... but here apparently I have the solution. Next time, you should save the project directly to your computer and not in Movie Maker... at least that’s what Microsoft explains in 'troubleshooting...'. Basically, think about not making mistakes before you do. Thanks Microsoft!
I have a solution that works for me to recover the file
You might say it's silly, but you know the mysteries of computing, you should never try to understand.
So before opening your file in Windows Movie Maker, please import a new image file (anyone) + a new audio file (music or sound), and then open your file and for me, as if by magic, it opens!!!
So try this and let me know if it works, hoping to help you recover all those lost hours spent setting up the sequence of photos, videos, music, transitions, effects....
Good luck to you, technology is beautiful!

I have the same problem, I'm following Cris's advice but nothing works, still that damn message "not implemented"
HELP!!
HELP!!
EUREKA!!!!!
I also had this issue last night with a window stating not implemented (30 hours of work down the drain), but no, I went to a specialist who just installed the new version of Windows Movie Maker via Windows Live (MSN). So just type in Google Windows Live Movie Maker or just Movie Maker and download the latest version! And there, miracle, reopen your project with the new version, it's there!!!
I went to 3 computer stores and did everything this forum suggested, none were able to tell me what to do except to start all over again. I hope to help some and wish you all the best!

Hello,
AAAARRRRRFFFF!!! After the bugs galore of the XP version, this problem with Vista.
Microsoft spends its time forcefully selling operating systems that aren't even reliable, but we have to buy them if we want to use our PC.
Movie Maker is a good example of their "I don't care" attitude as long as the cash rolls in. Can't wait for justice to finally make them accountable.
Shit, six hours wasted that won't be compensated, I think I'm going to buy "Premiere"!!!

Hello,
Okay, in the meantime I am creating short parts of my video that I will assemble in my final version.
Aware that this system has its limits, I no longer waste time for nothing...
Once the video has been made, the video file remains saved, only the temporary one is lost...
I hope this will help some people!!!
See you later...

I'm sorry Chris... for me, just like for Nathanaël, it's not working!!!! As a result, I've deleted all my images and all my imported sounds, and there's nothing left. When I open my old project, there's nothing but the damn little window that says "not implemented"... it's hopeless!
Does anyone else have a solution? The same goes for mixing the English method and Chris's method, it doesn't work for me...
Thanks in advance...

1. Open Movie Maker
2. Click on Import Media
3. You need to take a photo and a music
4. When your photo and music are on the screen (the imported files pane), go to File
5. Click on Open Project...
6. A window opens, select the project (.mswmm)
7. Click on Open
There you go, I think this will work

Same here, about 20 hours of work for nothing; for my son's 2nd birthday, this software is a real piece of junk, it's better to use Studio 10, but if anyone has a solution to recover the project, I'm all ears
Hello,
I have the same problem, I have restarted my project three times and the issue appears anywhere I am in the process. Do you have a solution to recover the file?? Thank you.

Hello,
Welcome to the club of those who have wasted their time. I also spent nearly 20 hours on this project, and now starting over really pisses me off. However, in searching for a solution, I realize I'm not the only one who got screwed over, but that doesn’t make me feel any better. So, is there any recovery solution?

Hello,
It seems that this might be an executable memory issue, try saving a short project on an external hard drive.
(It's an idea like any other (lol)

Hello,
apparently your solution doesn't work Mempamal, I had already tried to save my project on the second partition of my hard drive as well as on a USB stick but it didn't change anything. I would think more of a crash during saving that makes it not finalized as it should be.

Hello,
well actually, here there are only the people who have had the problem: those who have the solution don't seem to come. For me everything was working, I connected a projector and got the same message: not implanted. Despite that, the file (which is on the desktop) is over 7MB. It can't be empty. There must be a way to restore it!
