Hello everyone,
I’m introducing myself on this forum because after 5 years of using my Asus ROG G53SX laptop, I thought a system restore would do it a world of good.
However, I didn't make copies on CD thinking I could rely on factory reset.
Unfortunately, I can't access it. Neither by pressing F9 during startup nor by going to the "recovery" option in the maintenance center in the control panel.
I find myself not knowing how to proceed.
Does anyone have a solution to help me reformat my PC?
I am running Windows 7 x64 (Home Premium edition, I believe) and I want to stay on W7.
Thanks in advance for your responses.

Hello Mathraan,
You can reinstall Windows instead of doing a factory reset: it's even better, it avoids the installation of useless and unnecessary software from Asus or commercial partners! ;D
Before you begin, you need to download the installation ISO (virtual disk) of Windows 7.
https://www.microsoft.com/fr-fr/software-download/windows7
(you need to enter the license key before downloading, it doesn't always work...)
https://www.microsoft.com/fr-fr/software-download/windows7
(be careful to download the correct version of Windows as well as the correct architecture (32 or 64 bits)
Then you need a USB key that is empty or where there's nothing important (the content will be erased): https://www.commentcamarche.net/telecharger/systemes-d-exploitation/23917-windows-7-usb-dvd-download-tool/
You will need to take the ISO and "burn" it onto the USB key using the software.
Then you will boot your PC from the previously prepared USB key.
You will proceed with the installation of Windows.
Then a couple of formalities that we will see together at the end so that there are no issues! ^^ ;D

If I wanted to reset it to factory settings, it's because there are some important Asus software. But I guess I can redownload them afterwards.
So, if I reinstall Windows according to your technique, will it still delete everything on my computer? I want to do a thorough cleaning.
And regarding the product license key... I have no idea where it has gone, that's why I’m really troubled :/
Indeed, I thought I had mentioned it, but you can reinstall the important Asus software. I know that on gaming PCs like the ROGs, there are some pretty nice hardware management software.
I believe these are the ones: https://rog.asus.com/downloads/
You need to back up your important data like photos or documents before the installation, as the system partition will be formatted. Regarding the Windows license, it is registered in OEM in the motherboard, so there won't be any license issues; it will all happen automatically.
If you have any questions or need help, I'm here! ;D
But to download the ISO of Seven from the official page, do I need my product key or did I not understand how this works? :)
Edit: I found a way to recover my key with the SIW app.
But now my key validation is not working...
Just tell me your current version of Windows and I'll provide you with a safe link.
;D
